Elmer which airlines? Tractor? Almost did that the other day. Thank God they stretched!
Let me give you something to laugh about at my expense. I have an unrestricted CDL but don’t know how to drive a stick shift. This truck that I loaded was a manual. How many times do you think I stalled? How nervous was I trying to get it up those ramps and hoping to God they wouldn’t mess up the bumper? Here’s even one better that a rookie like me would make: broker says truck is like 30 ft. I tell dispatch that I would have to stretch trailer and then be overweight on drives. So I would need to get overweight permits. He says that the truck will fit no need to stretch trailer. After I finally get the truck on the trailer and chain it, I come to get under it and what do you know? I need like 3-6 inches or I would crush the bumper. Now it’s take all securement off, and do this all over again. And yes I notified broker truck won’t fit and asked if I can try driving it onto my back ramps. He said go ahead. Nope those tires didn’t work and yes I locked the axles.
I have made a decision not to play in the snow this winter. Will stay south of the 40. Not with this truck. Still haven’t raised the fifth wheel!
Pictures of the two times I was stuck this past week for your amusement.

    Don't forget the 7-way plug/socket. I thought it but didn't say it.

My head is spinning here. Stuck? Cat tracks in gravel? That's a superhighway what I run.

Things I've seen me do. It's been quite awhile since I've done it though.

How would stretching your trailer put more on the drives if the load was still against the rear step?

I saw the gravel and was happy. Then I get under the trailer and my tires are spinning with my axles locked. Pissed me off. The ground was a little wet and the location I was unloading at had a little of an incline. Question for you and everyone: if my truck had full lockers would I still be stuck? What about those bear claws that I have seen for not being stuck in mud, would they have worked?
This unloading area in my eyes was not a location I should have worried about in the least. Seemed ideal. I expect small potholes, water, mud, and in the distant future snow. Any recommendations?

    cke and Oxbow Thank this.

I'm not throwing rocks at your situation. My truck is built for what I do- vocational spec, Chalmers, 11r24.5 waste hauler lug, cross locks, low gears, 5th wheel height 54". Mud coming out the holes in the wheels it moves or need a D8 to pull it out. It would be absolutely worthless as an OTR truck.

The last time I moved the PC400 we fought getting that thing hooked up and down the road, narrow gravel road with a lot of camber and of course broke the trailer apart on the only puss pocket for miles either way. That was with a woods setup and two old hands and a lot of cussing. It happens.

I get it I have the wrong truck. Just need to know if there is any temporary fix for about 3-4 months. I’m actively working on getting the right truck.

    cke Thanks this.
