Guys let's get back to the topic here. This is exactly why companies can push the sleep study on people. As soon as we try to organize we start infighting. The purpose of this thread is to inform drivers that positive changes are coming to USX regarding medical cards. And if we drivers push back on companies like Prime, Crete, etc that are pushing these sleep studies we can get them to knock this stuff off.

Please, let's not drive this off-topic. The topic was about Medical Card Policy changes via TruckDuo's experiences with USX company doctor.

We can leave personal opinions about his departure and return to another thread.

It really is a shame to see doctors and companies take a real disorder and turn it into a profit making scheme. Yes....obesity is a factor for apnea however as you stated it is not the only factor and using BMI as the sole method to determine a need for testing is discrimination.

Funny you bring this up today because I had a follow up with my sleep doctor today....I've had apnea for over 10 years...a few years before driving so I know I have "real" sleep apnea. I retested a few months ago for the purpose of getting updated equipment and having insurance continue to cover. I clocked in at an AHI of 109.3.....for those that aren't aware to put it simply AHI is the number of times you stop breathing in an hour.... anthing over 5 is considered mild...anything over 30 is severe. I'm off the charts. Being diagnosed literally saved my life but the scams these companies are running are causing people to doubt this is even a real affliction.

Kudos to you both for for pushing back

Thank you for not just chiming in that the disease is real, blah blah blah... My company screwed me over with a fake diagnosis. I've learned,to deal with the machine, even tho it does not help, at all, after 6 months. I'm about yo start doing everything I can to remove it, but it's,gonna cost me,money now...

FatDaddy The point you made is exactly why it's so messed up that trucking is trying to push this onto every driver. It is a legitimate disorder and for trucking companies to try to use it to profit off of it is sad. My dad was diagnosed with sleep apnea a few years ago, he had trouble sleeping with the mask though so he had the surgery done. My mom recently had a sleep study done and they said she doesn't have it.

Sleep studies are something that should be discussed between the driver and their personal doctor, not some company they are trying to be hired on by. Trucking companies don't care if a woman's breasts are riddled with cancer or if your gallbladder is one cheeseburger away from rupturing while you're driving or if a driver has hemorrhoids... :biggrin_25524:

I have very little respect for doctors today. They are not "taught" in medical school anymore. They are "programmed". Programmed to write a scrip for a symptom, not treat the cause. Research and you'll find that the med school text books are written and published by the big pharmaceutical companies. Be nice to nurses... They keep doctors from killing you.

Have you checked out Forward Air? They're claiming 177k for teams, may be worth checking out.

I can only say that the regulations for people with larger BMI's is becoming more & more difficult to get a full 2 year card, regardless of the company. They are implementing databases to keep people from Doctor hopping and such as well. The bigger the guy you are the harder it's going to be to get a medical clearance, large necks especially ... I wish I could find the link on the article but impending doom is on it's way from the DOT & FMCSA for more then just big drivers, but elogs becoming mandatory, automatics being required in all new trucks etc etc .. if I happen to find the link on the sleep study epidemic , I will come back & post it.. Not a good day to be a big driver

here's a good read on the subject
