I kept the Hazmat..the $15 test free and $? to add to my license wasnt too bad but then the $40 for fingerprinting and background check.

$116 to renew my CDL with XNT and Class M for 8yrs. Of course the Hazmat has to be renewed at the 1/2 way mark.

So that plus the $40 and the $60 I had to pay NY for an up to date copy of my BCert and then the $105 for the TWIC....then the $120 for the passport and passport card....Maybe a FAST card next? Hell I am giving money to just about everyone!

    It don't ever stop...

Yea. I know....I guess I dont mind, but I question the TSA Hazmat checks.
All that does is protect us from ourselves.

Getting the TWIC was easy enough and at least they discounted it (slightly) due to the Hazmat TSA checks I just had. Of course the side effect of that is that it co-expires with my Hazmat but that's ok too.

I guess I am considering this all an investment in my future. Yea, I am not driving at the moment, but I am working full-time and can afford to buy and pay for this #### - so I figured I would get it done before I hit the road and truly end up broke...

I let my physical expire because I wasnt driving. went to the dmv to turn in my physical so i could start driving and was told my cdl was revoked. I have to start all over. I've had cdl-a for years and never had this happen. The lady at the dmv said Indiana changed the laws. nice of them to send me a letter.

How long has it been? Try contacting a supervisor and being very nice to them.

    Good luck!

Last week I went to take my driving test to get my cdl's back. I didn't get past the pretrip. Here are the things I missed. I didn't tell him his water pump was gear driven. I couldn't find the washerfluid reservoir. ( it was inside the cab) I didn't inspect the locking pins on the fifth wheel. ( because his wasn't a slider) He said that the base of the fifth wheel is called the "apron" and I didn't call it that. ( I thought the apron was the bottom of the trailer where the kingpin is mounted) Although I inspected the front of the trailer, I didn't call it a header board. He asked me " how do you adjust the brakes" I repeated his question back to him because thats not something that is suppose to be in the test. He repeated his question so I told him that you take a wrench and snug the adjustment bolt then back it off 1/4 to 1/2 turn. wrong. he wanted " how do you check the adjustment". No more that 1 inch pull. When I checked the heater I ran the blower but didnt slide the heater control. I didnt inspect the passenger seat. And finally, I inspected the steering play and said you could have no more than 2" of play on a 20 steering wheel. wrong. he wanted me to say 10 degrees no 2". even though the states book says both.

But he was really nice and told me that if I really wanted to be a truck driver I needed to enroll in his school.

Is it me or is that a conflict of interest.

Lars, I just called the state office. She was really nice but told me that in Indiana if your physical is out of date for 1 year you lose your cdl. I turned my physical in 7 days too late. I'm an IDIOT. She also told me that they had sent 4 mailings to my home telling me that I needed my physical. SERIOUSLY, I never got a one. So someone at my house is throwing my mail away????

Oh well. I just have to find a legit testing site and another 150.00.

Please do me a favor? Next time you see this guy will you please tell him I think he's an IDIOT. You should be calling someone in the state and report him. Plus he knows nothing about trucks.
