I worked in a (close your ears your not going to want to hear this) mortuary for a while, the owner of the mortuary went to see his doctor...annual physical thing...and came back pissed off, mumbling, almost in tears! He told us the Doctor said he had to quit smoking to see the next Christmas!

Well George did try quitting, he did fairly well, we thought...went back the next month for a follow up, came back happy as a mosquito on a blood blister...before he got three steps in the door...he lit up a cigarette, beaming from ear to ear with smiles he told us..."Doc bought these for me so I would see Thanksgiving!"

The no smoking was more stressful to him than his heart condition!

See, every story has a silver lining!

No, shifting gears. Had to put him out of service. Put a lot of thought and consulted a few before I did. But driver had to take his left hand off the wheel and shift the gears, because the right hand/arm did nothing but hang. driver couldn't hold a pen, cup, door knob, nothing in the right hand.

That is really sad..Now I would have thought that would be an automatic infraction.

Thanks 25..Not gonna say I am not worrying but I don't think I'm overly worried. More of a trying to plan, plan, plan..Like having those backups!!

Well, it was 391.11, unqualified driver of CMV. At one point this fella had a waiver through FMCSA. Not quite sure why he never renewed it, but a little research into this fella I was able to ocate 4 other inspections where he was placed OOS for the same thing. He was a O/O and should be getting a nice visit from FMCSA and the auditors.

Take care of yourself first and it will fall in place.

Ok, let's be really straight forward and productive. Outside of the situation, we always like to tell people not to worry, and it really is good advice, but a little too simple for practical life I think. In fact it's probably a little insulting to tell a grown man not to worry. After all, only he knows his problems and responsibilities, what's coming due and the impact it will have on his life. So here's the real thing. You're going to worry when you feel helpless and overwhelmed. The trick is to empower yourself. And this MUST be done. You have to switch into another mode. You can't lose yourself in work right now which is how we usually put worry off.

For instance, make your goal to find a minimum of 3 realistic back-up plans. You have time and you have the internet. You can kill worry with preparedness and all your eggs won't be in one basket. It can take hours to research a single back-up plan, for instance everything involved with going back to school from financial aid and grants, what you think you might want to do, what you're willing to do.. a certification of some sort to a degree. You may find yourself in a position that for the first time in your life you can make a better living with your mind than your body, to evolve to your circumstance.

You also may end up driving again. There's no real reason that won't happen. But think of all the jobs everyone you've ever known has had, weigh it against your circumstance, see if it is something you could consider, what it would take to get into it, what contacts you have that would help you along the way. Talk to anyone and everyone. Keep yourself BUSY and productive!

Throw one idea up against the wall and wait for it to stick if you want, but better to throw 100 up there.

Mr. Pharm..I am going to admit to "knowing" you because I have been an avid reader of your thread..I say that because my sense of humor is usually at the forefront with those I know..That is a warning

I beg you to PLEASE refer to me as "she" from here on out!!! I know I am in a "man's" world but some things I just REFUSE to give upOk..Sorry..Had to get that out of the way

I have begun to plan. I have been on the internet researching what I want to do. Have the application for the grant. Now if only I could decide what I want to be when I grow up..So many choices!!

Love the quotes and really do believe when one door shuts another has opened. Sometimes it is hard to figure out where that door is though!!

LOL! Sometimes it can be just anything! There is one particular lake up north of me that I cannot mention without sending the post into moderation! (It is so frustrating to have retrieve your own work, and then the other mods see it and tease me!)

I know how George feels!!! Ironically the Monday before ths started I had my quit plan in place..Was going to use the electronic cigerettes. I went from 2-3 packs a day to 4 cigerettes..Did fine like that for a few days. Then I got tired and needed to continue on my way. So, here comes the cigs. It might be easier now that I am out of the truck. I have to rev up the plan again and do it!
