I sent a message to my recruiter but I'm hoping I get a faster response in the forum since it's the weekend. For the medical exam, do i need to report prescriptions I'm not taking but are prescribed to me? I probably have a few scripts sitting at the pharmacy because I whine at my doctor and I hate pills. My biggest issue will be phentermine. I have an open prescription but I haven't taken it in 2 months. It was for weight loss. I would never drive taking the stuff. I didn't even enjoy living taking it. It did ok for weight loss but that brings me to my 2nd question about bmi. Am i going to have trouble with my bmi at 30%? I'm trending down in my weight. I'm not worried about it going up. I'm still dropping even without the phentermine. I fixed my hormones which would be another open prescription I'm not taking. I'm getting excited. I get to go to training next week. I don't want to be disappointed by these petty issues. All my other medical requirements should be met. I had a recent physical and even a hearing test recently so I know that everything is good. Good BP and all that.

    Don't say anything about prescriptions!!
Phentermine shouldn't show up in a urine test if you've been off of it for 90 days. It may show up in hair follicle test for 12 months.
Get a test kit and do your own urine test to make sure you test negative before reporting to orientation. If you test positive, make up some excuse to reschedule orientation until you test clean. Some excuse like a family member is in the hospital or something that sounds plausible.

Yeah, some companies use BMI as an excuse to get you to do sleep apnea study on your dime too. You wanna steer clear from those companies. 30 BMI is not a big deal. Good luck to you.

Just remember a lot of examiners are now calling your pcp and discussion your medical condition with them.

And before anyone says anything about hipaa, it does not apply, they can call and ask without your permission.

    Is pcp personal care provider???

If so bull snot Ridge. You would know better than that. Your Family Doc can not release or discuss your medical info with anybody without your consent.

I went thru this 2yrs ago over the whole sleep apnea thing, the Ahole work doc had straight God syndrome, he want to talk to my Family Dr., & Sleep Dr., he had the release forms ready to go when i walked in. The more i refused to sign them the more pissed he got.

That was the day i told him he was fired. Went back and told the HR lady at the company i was leased up at he was fired. She drew a hard line in the sand. I can’t fire him i have to have his blessing to drive. Lmao. I said then i’m done here, peace out homie.

Actually both of you are wrong. There are a list of hipaa exceptions that cover a lot of things. You are right about the PCP, however if that medical examiner feels the need to contact this PCP and you don't authorize it you will NOT get a medical. For the record if that ME then puts this refusal in the FMCSA ME database and you then go to see a 2nd ME and this 2nd ME gives you a card you are subject to being charged with doctor shopping. The FMCSA will pull both long forms. Long story short! You may lose that medical.

For the record and to avoid further yak yak notice I said subject to. I am not saying for a 100% fact this will happen. However I know two drivers that had their physicals yanked because of this. I would be careful to use great caution with this subject of doctor shopping!

Answer the paperwork questions only and never tell them anything else. Most of these examiners aren't even MDs. Guard your information like you would your social security number. Speaking of the ss number. You don't have to give them that either. All they need a unique identifier and that could easily be your driver's license number instead. Once they have your social it's a very slippery slope from there.

Do you just stick your finger into the air before you spew off things? The Medical Long form does not even have a place for the SSAN. All it asks for is the drivers license number. I don't remember if the old forms did ask for the SSAN or not. However this is not the case with the new forms. If your going to make a comment like that at least put a disclaimer that the comment is an opinion!

Pharmacists are first line in real time reporting without fail any drugs filled by yourself. The patient. The doctor that ordered it (Scropt for which you signed on the back etc) and how many you filled for the month. The State's Pharmacy Board maintains this database going back years if not decades and where possible your lifespan. In my 50's now but some records date to age 1. The immediate intent is to interdict people who try to fill narcotics that are not theirs to fill. And to allow any doctor immediate access to the entire medicine situation you are in currently at any time. If at all necessary the Law would get invovled in it.

There was certain meds I failed to fill and that is my way of getting my doctor's attention in a nicer way of saying no, I will not use this medicine. Then they listen a minute to why I am not filling them.

They should have listened months ago without having to waste all this time with open prescriptions not filled.

Your BMI of 30 indicates Obesity. Not just Over the weight. That will introduce a range of other issues. There are 10,000 charts availible online with a simple google search. They vary.

Considering the poor food on the road unless you were very careful at where and what food cooked to order and eaten when you can You are at greater risk for even more issues out there.

The rest of itwill depend on your physical results.

In short, your personal Dr. can only divulge your medical info with a signed release. However if you refuse to sign the release, the Medical Examiner can and will refuse to issue a medical card.

We are on the same page. Yes?

Ok now look at my last post. This happened to me...

I got into an argument with the Medical Examiner and refused to sign the release, he then refused to issue a medical card. I then went to my personal Physician and she then performed a physical and issued me a good 1yr card.
