I have been told, if they are prescriptions keep the bottles even if they are in another organizer or such. They have ways of checking what the pills are and if they arent listed then its trouble. If you have pills that your not allowed to drive with you can keep them if they are in the original bottles but do not drive onthem.

I almost went to jail in Lake City, Fla. DOT was checking my truck at the scalehouse one evening several years ago, found my prescription pill bottle on the dash, it had my heart medicine in it. Opened it and nearly went beserk. I had purchased a small tin foil package of Tylenol head-ache medicine at the truck stop, it cost 99 cents. Had 2 pills in the package, and I had not opened the tin foil pack, but put it in the pill bottle, with my heart pills.. Took me into the back room of the chicken house, and told me it was illegal to put any other meds in a prescription bottle.I laughed and told him it was a common sense thing to do, keeping my medicine together. His boss came in, heard what was going on, and shook his head. The officer who had brought me in said he was going to call a druggist for advice on what to type crime to charge me with, as the tylenol was not an illegal drug. I could not believe this was going on, and laughed again.he picked up the phone book, started looking up the number. He started spelling outloud as he looked in the phone book. F-A-R-M-A-C-Y he said. [ pharmacy is the correct spelling ] . His boss got up, walked over, closed the phone book, and picked up my stuff, handed it to me, and told me to get going, he was sorry the officer had given me a rough time, but they had recently had a class on catching illegal pills, and this officer was too gung-ho. I laughed and left.
