I work for USX and it sounds similar to what the guy up there said about Melton. USX has well maintained equipment. I've always been treated well. They definitely have miles.
I have no idea how the pay compares. What does Melton pay?
Oh, and USX is not all team. They are not on the verge of bankruptcy.
Melton or US Xpress

Does a company "on the verge of bankruptcy" by 2000 new trucks a year? Every year? USX does not put APU's in the trucks because they would never pay off. Their average truck age is less than two years old. I had three different trucks while we were there, All brand new, well, one had 10,000 miles on it.
That being said, if you do not mind hard work and want to be solo, Melton is probably a better choice.
Like almost anything in life, your experience with a company is most directly affected by your attitude and how you treat others.Chinatown Thanks this. -

Melton has APU's in all trucks also inverters, maybe they don't "payoff" but i sure as heck wouldn't want to get stuck in a no idle state in the middle of summer with out one. Under the bunk heaters are great in the winter, but do nothing when your sweating and can't get any sleep. Actually they probably do pay off when the truck is sold to someone else, resale value. idleing uses more fuel than the APU's. And concidering we eat out of the truck alot, the inverter pays off tor us.
I could post negatives, but i try to stick to general facts, because good and bad raves are just that a rave about "your" experience, which lately has been pretty bad for us, mostly due to weather though. -
There is alot to be said for having an APU.
Stricter idleing laws are becoming the norm. -

I am currently with usx counting down the days to my 90...not going to post negatives but the positives i know a out fb and the negatives i know about van make me excited to go with melton (pre approved and penciled to attend orientation in march) the previous posts about usx are all true (except maybe the bankrupt thing...idk about that since i simply drive a truck and dont read the financial reports). Imho if you are wanting a van job usx is a decent company.
