I love the trucks that pull into fuel up ( no need to mention the race we have all seen it) and 7,8,9 or 10 people get out!! My god can you imagine how bad those trucks smell??

Reason number one not to have my paycheck depsotied on fuel card. If you don't have a checking account, get a paper check at your terminal.
-
The bad thing with the paper check from the company is if you don't get to their bank and I do mean THEIR bank in time if it "bounces" it doesn't cost you!
I did find out something last summer when the choke and puke my son worked for bounced his pay check. As you know your bank will send you a "copy" of the check with the bouncing check costs . It took me a few days but I was looking at this check and I grabbed my magnifying glass and looked at what was printed in itsy bitsy print but the words "this copy good for cash at the issuing bank"
We couldn't get to the bank fast enough! That's where we found out that there was money in the account right then and we cashed the thing causing this moron to bounce more checks and cost his worthless arse more money! He even tried to blame my son for his troubles!
Again dad comes to his rescue! I won!
Get the pay the best way you can that can't be cut off! If it goes to a card then after you know the time it hits the card be there waiting to pull it off! If direct deposited and you think they will go back and get it out then transfer it to the savings account but they can't pull it out after it's been transferred. It's a paranoia thing with some people and computer hoaxes! -

Gentlemen, you could do better. There are companies out there where you could make 55-65K/year.
passingthru69 Thanks this. -
Notice the profile and trucker spot? says no!
I bet he sits in an office in one of the window offices to be exact and isn't a dispatcher but one of the college boys that make policy! $55-$65 k a year! ok which company is this wonder job and how long has this high dollar driver been there? I know as I've posted my last W-2 that make those numbers actually look small BUT I did NYC and multi drops where I had to sleep on the curb there! But I seriously doubt from the ads and head hunters I've been in contact with lately, those figes ain't happening except for those who have been there for a while and don't whine about going to certain cities!
Unless it's a union BFI company!
I just love going in at 7am then sitting all day waiting for the seniour guys that show up at 1 pm get the runs and I get the crumbs! Screw that! Tried it many years ago didn't work then I tried another job where this excuse of a Teamsters place here got into one of the lime mines and that was a freaking joke from the start! had to pay iniation dues of $25 just before the sky rocketed to $150 and when I needed help they laughed in my face! Not to mention I never made "union" wages or got ANY of the benifits just that stupid green card in my pocket they wanted $20 a month for so I could work pulling that tanker!
OK Cpape tell us more! Where is this great paying company or companies? -
Rollover--I just love the age old logic that the only ones that know anything about trucking are drivers. I am one of the college boys that makes policy, but I am also the dispatcher, and whatever non-driving job needs to be done. I put in as many hours in the office as my drivers do in the truck, and I continue working when I go home. I am one of the owners of a family owned trucking company. I also run our open deck division. I may not be able to post their W2s but almost all my open deck drivers will be in that range. My top driver will make 65K this year, and I am projecting my average driver to be in the 55K range. I will have a couple drivers in the low 50s but one is 70 and likes to run 1800-2000 a week, and the other likes to be home every other day. They do this running 5-6 days a week and then being home 34-48 hours. The top paid driver has been with my company 3 years, I think. After the first couple months, there is little difference in the miles that our drivers get each week. There is a 4 cpm difference between starting pay and the rate for my senior drivers. It isn't overly difficult to close this gap...get good MPG, low OOR%, avoid claims/incidents, and take care of my equipment. I am aware of other companies that would have a similar program for drivers.
We most certainly are not union. We believe in rewarding those who perform, not just show up.
I also don't think I fit into your BFI category either.
I probably didn't need to tell you any of this, though. You have been in the business for 32 years, drive the truck, and therefore know everything there is to know about trucking. Unfortunately, SW MO is outside my hiring area. Although, we probably wouldn't get along so well anyway. -
Go Get'em cpape, If he has read any of your other posts he would have understood you more.
Like I have posted on your posts about looking for drivers, you have been upfront and I believe honest about who and what you are in this bussiness. -
brother, go check out my thread about HHG miles. I think I am going to have to draw a picture to get my point across on that one.
