Take your mouse...left click in the text where you want to start the copying...HOLD the left click down and drag mouse to highlight EXACTLY where you want to stop....let off mouse, now right click IN the highlighted are and click on COPY...go to your post and right click in your post and click paste...

But is there a way to do that highlighting a partial of the original post then click quote so that when responding other readers know who and where the original quote was from

The way I have done it in past was to do a full quote and then cut out what I am not referring to
Just hoping for an easier way

Okay, I realize this is a test thread, but MAYBE it is being monitored. How do I get the link that is in the quoted material into a reply that I am constructing? I have searched the FAQs and didn't recognize anything as a way to accomplish it, but I could have missed it. I would appreciate at least a pointer to where this capability is discussed. Thanks.

 

If I am reading your question right you would need to cut and paste any item you want into the post you are creating
Or you could use the quote feature like you did for this question
Then just edit out the parts you don't need
