Memphis Bridge westbound

    Anyone go over on a regular basis and know how bad the delay is westbound over the I55 bridge? Thinking about going the 65 miles around and wondering if it's worth it.

    Is the delay just westbound or both ways? I've got to run it eastbound in a couple days.

    Both ways... the main support beam on 1 side broke..... maybe 6 months if they don't need to replace it....

    Coast guard is talking about using 62 Barges to build a Temporary floating bridge

    East bound traffic on I-40 is stop and go gridlock for about 10-15 miles leading up to state line. Going around probably a good idea IMO.

    Where are you coming from and which way ste you going? I live in Memphis. I'll be going home in a couple weeks, I live on the north side of town so I'll be coming in by way of Dyersburg.

    Westbound had no delay. Took the 40 to "E E H Crump Blvd" and took that surface street for about to miles which leads right to the 55 bridge.
    If you're coming EASTBOUND on 40 it's a mess. The backup went all the way back to MM 275. Miles of delay probably an hour or so to get through it.

    I came across the bridge west bound on Monday about noon and it was smooth sailing and east bound had a small delay but not much of a back up.

    I went 80 miles out of route going east and it wasn't worth it. Next time I'll go through it.

    That's what I heard on the DAT weekly update: 75 minute delay is about equal to detouring around.

    About the same time but detouring around cost me more fuel. Not much fuel but still wasn't worth going around.
