Actually yes. Well I know they have the authority to shut down the Mississippi anyway. When I was looking for the article about the floating bridge I found several where they did, both for a few days under this bridge, and at other times for various reasons. I think they either work with, or share responsibility of the Mississippi with the Corps of Engineering.
Came through westbound today right at the start of afternoon rush due to pathetically slow loading at shipper. Took 1 hour 22 minutes to get through to 55 bridge and over. No horrible but 55 minutes of that was about a. 8 mile stretch. Only a matter of time before locals start getting really angry at all the traffic and start bustin caps. The eastbound side looked backed up for miles. Best to avoid this during peak times unless you have time to kill. If your going north the ride up through Blytheville isn’t bad.
Went thru eastbound about 14:00. Took me about an hour or so. If going east get in left hand lane. All the folks trying to cut thru West Memphis have to get back on the interstate and foul up the right lane
