As a L/O, the short runs are okay, as long as there is a back up plan, and there are not lots of mt miles in the front, like some that I have seen, 140 mt to pu 150 ldd. As a l/o, there is just no money in it, plus as l/o, we do not receive short haul pay like company drivers. Such as the one that I mentioned above, 70 miles to spot a trailer and then b/t back 70 miles, would have been paid the empty mile rate, and no FSC.

I guess I'm a slut of a driver; I'll accept anything I have hours to run. I do get the "do me a favor" messages and I am proactive about getting the favor repaid on the next load. I have gotten impossible loads I've turned down with comical messages that were removed without any apparent repercussions. I guess that's why I never sit and why I get to the places I need to get if I am persistant in reminding them (mac34). On the other hand, I'm a company driver so I get paid the same for mt as loaded and I don't have the leverage yet to make demands. I'm also still curious aboiut what's over the next hill or around the next corner so I accept stuff I maybe shouldn't because of that curiosity.

I've gotten those "Can you do me a favor run" phone calls too and I just tell them to send it over on the QC and I will take a look at it...Funny how it never really seemed to show up or if it did, I declined it cause there was no way I had the hrs or could get it there on time.....Oh well.....

I hope one day we can get a system where we plan ourselves. Mac30 is BS. It keep saying "there are currently no loads available". We should be able to go to the load board and choose a load from there, and I think we would be doing a lot better as getting loads.
