Not sure where to post this exactly, if this is incorrect forum please direct me where I need to be.

I have a friend who has been asking me about my job, and is now interested in getting started in a trucking career. My question is I know this person has a previous suicide attempt in their past. I think it was about 11, 12 years ago. Has been all clear since, was able to stop medication about 4 years ago per their psych therapist.

My question is, are they required to disclose that information to any potential employer? Will that record show up on a background check since they required hospitalization? I think they were in the psych ward for about 2 weeks.

Nothing will show up and if he is really ok then he should just keep his mouth shut. When trying for a school or a job answer all of the questions honestly, but never volunteer any info that is not asked for.

In gun purchasing, if that is the one issue which will cause the denial of the sale to him pesonally, having been on a hold or detained for his own safety then you will understand it might affect his ability to haul certain loads. If at all.

You need to have a streak of crazy to do well in this industry, I have done things with a 18 wheeler that most people in seocity will think it's truly crazy. (Crossing a bridge without the new bridge decks come to memory, three of them total while being completely off road in CT on bare dirt one day. A closed road to boot. And here I go off on a streak, of crazy tralala we'll get to the promised land yet.

Seriously, do not ever volunteer anything. You probably are aware that there is incessant questioning involved with mental health, drug abuse and certain other situations designed as panels to ferret out of hostile patients who decided they will not divulge a #### thing at al. Unfortunately for them by using too many words or displaying emotional states has more than shown what the truth is at unfortunately for them because they talked too much.

Don't worry, my little magic bag of tricks involving a little crazy here and there is cold, calculated and able to take into account what's possible if you were crazy enough to try it. Some people are not. And no harm done.

Crazy is not a good word. I was as a child deemed one which will eventually become a ward of the state. At 7 I dug in and told a staffer that this insistution herds everyone from room to room every 12 minutes on all three floors. We are not cattle, we are people to be taught new things everyday. Not silly rules about not touching females, that goes no where at that age, just programming against a future that the staff understands is coming. And the students do not.

I was put into the state school the following year. Almost instantly. Anyone who is truly as sick as what they thought I had in those days were misunderstood very badly. One manager asked if I was deaf or crazy, he chould not figure it out. I pointed to hearing aids and said yes and if he ever had a problem with me take a look at what I have on my trailer over THERE. (Corrosive Class Diamonds in load plastic bottles... imagine that acids wanting out with a plastic bottle between them and atmosphere)

That was the end of that particular line of conversation right quick. In those days nothing came of that particular conversation. The Fleet Manager was squiming because he is the one that put that load on me. Think nothing of what they might do to pansies today when they complain to the law of hurt feewings or emotional kidnapping etc. No such thing.

Oh yes sir, this industry will take whatever loose ends you possess and help you fine tune them properly.
