Mercer Transportation left hundreds of us drivers stranded.

I have a serious question for you guys...if I was to put a truck on at Mercer, do I also have to have my own trailer, or do they have one to supply? Just from what I have been reading on this thread it seems that they are a bit like LS, or am I totally off my rocker there? How many miles would one average in a month pulling their freight that pays 1.80/mile+??

 

you can lease purchase one of Mercer's trailers for around $600 a month.

And where are you finding stories of $1.80 a mile freight?

 

Depends on if he is talking about a "to the truck" rate or the gross rate before the carrier's cut of the pie.

IMO if you aren't pulling at a GROSS rate of over $1.80 the majority of the time, then you got some issues right now. Having said that, I'm not a flatbedder and know nothing, so just disregard my mindless ramblings.

 

2010 I averaged $1.35 for ALL miles put on my truck. Now that is to the truck after Mercer took their unearned 25%

 

I meant gross, should have clarified that sorry. The outfit I am contracted to now we are van haulers and last years average was 1.51/mile to the truck. I am thinkin that I might be just as wise to stay here. We get all the miles we want and new trailers (company owned), but its a Canuck fleet and so we pay WAY more for ins. n other stuff n no fuel discount at all.

Guess Ill have to go back in this thread and read more about mercer as I just got hired by them and am going to louisville in three weeks they sounded real friendly so I decided why not give them a try

 

Mercer is a good company. I'm leased to them.... Can't get any better then that.

Me, I have personallity conflicts with myself..... And when those 2 personalities conflict is about the time my cordinator calls me & she get's caught in the cross hairs.
