You should do fine living in that area provided you are willing to use 4 foot tarps and haul steel.

Mercer flat wasn't to bad the freight was very slow this year though. Rates are all over the place from .90-10 a mile. I did over $2. a mile last year at mercer. Then i switched to the van side and with DH i was luck to be getting 1.55 on all miles.. My coordinator thought it was cool to be getting 1.20 for some reason. That's prob the main reason i left.

Jonjon I don’t mind steel but not up north. Afraid I’ll get stuck hauling trailers. Lol

I just booked me three loads out so I know I got tomorrow’s load. Will see how the rest go. Definitely dealing with brokers is easier than I thought. Got one to change load date from today to tomorrow so I could have backhaul home. She said as long as nobody grabs it by 4:45 it’s mine.

When you started is about right when it changed I'm thinking.....don't worry, I had I guy at Mercertown just last week saying he'd been at Mercer for 20 yrs and swore up and down you couldn't have more than one load booked at a time....but then he had a flip phone said he was never getting a smartphone. LOL

$6k, that's a whole lot of miles, no?

If you had only 10% DH, and add in Mercer's cut that would of put you at 2.13/mile....that's better than 10% over spot market rates.... The 1.20 is insane though.
