I never was leased to Mercer... I run my own authority and I haul for them on their carrier board... so The same Dry Van loads those kids get I get too... just Like Landstar I get some of the same freight they do and I don't get no 35% fee taken out...

For sure you are hauling the leftover junk loads that leased Mercer o/o didn't want. And dont kid yourself thinking you got 100% of anything do you think Mercer gave that load to you for free out of the goodness of their heart? It would be surprising if Mercer didn't take 35% or more off the top of that load before they tendered it to you and your expenses are a LOT more than any Mercer o/o.
back street slider, 1johnb, stayinback and 1 other person Thank this. -
I don't use EITHER of those 2 for my return hauls. -

At Landstar forget to cross one T or dot one i and you will find out only when trying to buy fuel using the Landstar fuel card. They will shut down the settlement card for good measure. Pass one random and you instantly become the number one pick. At some clinics I got to know the people there on a first name basis. Right now we got this 2290 thing going. I filed and paid the IRS. Everything good between me and Uncle Sam but not with Landstar they won’t accept what the IRS excepted for the past 11 years. Same truck same bill paid. Some years Landstar loses sent in 2290. Other years they say too dark or too light. One year I sent in same page 20 times before they excepted it. They excepted after I let slip a certain word. Mercer is looking good to me now. I am looking for greener friendlier grass. So am checking all feedbacks on Mercer Transportation versus Landstar.

I ran my own numbers and hauled quite a bit for both of them too, and some very good loads at times.
I didn't however kid myself to think I was ever getting the cream though, when one had a big move and they needed a bunch of trucks right now, a guy would get in on the cream, but that was about it.
The landstar board that you get to look at is nothing like the one that leased operators look at.back street slider Thanks this. -
