if y'all had been a day later or me a day sooner I would have.....maybe I'll catch y'all when i head back next week I am gonna try to go to the truck show.....I have haircut appointments piling up.....lol -
Right now the Van side is booming from what I'm seeing.... More & more van freight is showing up on the load board with a higher rate then flatbed freight.
-
Thx Redd. I think Mercer would be a good match for me for what I'm looking for. I'd just have to save up for a trailer. If the old KW would stay out of the shop one month I'd have enough to go get me one. Maybe by summer I will have it worked out.
-
You can actually do a lease purchase on one of their trailers & then turn it in when you secure another trailer. I know where you can get some older Swift trailers for 5 grand.
-
I'm not bragging, just saying. I have enough to get a good trailer right now. It's just my KW is on the warpath with the shops right now. It's a good truck. Just in the last few weeks It's hammering me. I broke my windshield. I blew out the clutch. The steer gear blew a hose and it's making a knocking sound. Needs to be replaced or rebuilt. Also I need new kingpins and a three wheel alignment. I need to replace the RR axle drive tires and the AC is out. I run it everyday and it's doing good but before I get a trailer I want to get the bugs worked out on my truck. I found a good shop here in my town and the owner is great and is working with me fixing things on my time off, which isn't much right now.
My truck is like driving a new one with the clutch in it. It's smooth as silk at 70 where before it was something like driving down a gravel road.
I've got it in the shop as i'm typing this. The mechanic is tightening up the exhaust and fixing a couple of oil leaks.
It was a former company truck and they were not the best in doing maintenance. I have found a lot of really nice Great Danes for 5000 and less. That's probably what I will be looking at when it comes time to get one.
Thx again Redd. You seem happy with where u are. I really want to be like that too. Run when I want and if I want to get off to go to the dentist. I don't want it to be more painful getting permission to do it than the dentist visit is. -
wait dave windshield..you leased to Mercer? Ins through Mercer? if so you get 2 free windshields a year according to KY law unless its recently changed
ok I see you aren't leasesd yet read other post ok when you do keep the windshield infor in mind.......
kwswan Thanks this. -
Does Mercer have any Reefer freight or have trucks leased to them that pull a reefer?
-
I have never seen reefers. Flats, steps and a few vans is all I have ever seen. I know some have RGN's
-
I have never either. I was just curious
