Well heres how it started.... Condensed version!

Fan not working. I know something wrong.

Get a PM in Rawlins, WY & asked them to test the fan clutch.... Yes driver, fan clutch bad!

I call next Volvo shop I'm planning to be near. Kansas City. Fan clutch $610.00 & 3.5 hours labor. No problem, we can do you when you get here Sunday.

I get to booogeying to get as close yo KC.... Missouri DOT have other plans for me. Spent last night in Watson scalehouse.

I roll into Volvo in Kansas City around 10 local time this morning.

Shop says that we can't touch you for a day or two. Who told you that you will be worked right in?

    I mutter vulgar words silently.

I go to parts dept.... Buy the fan clutch & a heater core... My heater core had been leaking a little bit & figured while I'm here......

I go to the Petro in Oak Grove, MO. Yes they can & will do the work today & pull me directly into the shop!

10 minutes later the wrench comes up to me & says that my fan clutch is ok... But the fan clutch sylenoid is shot.

They start calling Volvo to see if they have a sylenoid. I start calling Volvo to see if they had a sylenoid... We blew Volvo's phone up & they still not answering.

I bobtail out of the Petro going back to KC to return my $610 fan clutch & get a sylenoid.

Volvo can't directly refund me cause I paid with a TCH check. Their accounting dept has to cut me a check in 7-10 days & mail it to the house.

    I mutter vulgar words silently.

I buy fan clutch sylenoid for $65

I return to Petro in Oak Grove & they commence working on my truck.

Then wrench says.... This is the wrong fan clutch sylenoid.

    I mutter vulgar words loudly!

Come to find out.... Volvo changed the design & wiring of their fan clutch sylenoid.

They start calling Volvo to see if they have a sylenoid. I start calling Volvo to see if they had a sylenoid... We blew Volvo's phone up & they still not answering.

Finally called the Volvo shop & started talking to one of their techs....

The sylenoid was the right one.... But wiring wouldn't fit!

I boogey back into KC to get the wiring harness needed before Volvo closed. Another $85.

Listened to the Volvo tech cuss out the Volvo parts man for not asking if I needed the updated wiring harness...

Back to the Petro in Oak Grove. Got all the parts. 3 hours later truck is running like a Volvo.

    Fratsit Thanks this.

wow, sounds like you've had too much excitement this weekend.
sure doesn't inspire me to consider buying a volvo. I've actually run across a couple Freightliner dealers that impressed me within the last year. Unfortunately as far as service department that does not include the one closest to home. Usually takes 2-3 days to get in there no matter how minor the work. Two places in Canada took great care of me and did outstanding work. One was also a Mercerdes car dealer, they tossed me the keys to a car while they were going to have my truck for a few hours, said to go have a good time! That wasn't expected.
