Mercer won't let you leave the yard without enough tarps to cover a load.

Mercer. I started trucking in the 80's. Flat, tanking, and vans. Flat has always been my favorite.

I don't think that is true... Sure they gave us a sheet saying this is the required equipment we want you to have. But I never had anyone check to see if I had the required equipment.

Yeah it is. The guy in orientation from NY was right behind us on the left. He left his tarps at home and wanted to pick them up when he went home. Remember the black guy with the big sleeper? They would not let him leave until he had tarps on the truck.

yea I'm thinkin they pretty well check off everything on the sheet but a lot of guys go back by home and throw the tarps off..heck we didn't have a headache rack
when we leased on.....no one said a word but when we had to buy the new truck and go get it inspected all of a sudden we couldn't leave w/o one......soooo saying all that to say that the inspections are not always real consistent and who know why.......:biggrin_2556:

I've had some crappy wi-fi connections.... So my internet usage has been limited. I delivered in Santa Fe Wednesday morning... I was offered a military load out of AZ going to WI, but I refused it because of the 500 mile deadhead & the $1.10 rate. Thought I'd be sitting for a few days so I went to Albuqurque to hang out at the lot lizzard infested T/A. I wasn't there long when I got offered a load out of the Oro Grande Base Camp next to Ft. Bliss going to Ft. Riley.... $1.38 & a 300 mile deadhead.... Thought that is better then sitting, so I deadheaded down there to load yesterday morning. When I got there Wed. night, there was 2 Mercer's there already... When I woke up yesterday morning..... There were about 30 trucks lined up behind me... Stipulations were that we deliver in Ft. Riley today or we get stuck with the load until Tuesday... Not sure how many of those trucks were Mercer's, but 10-15 of us unloaded first thing this morning.

Loaded now going to Bay City, MI... Then working on a preplan out of there backto Kansas.

I personally think that Gonzo is exempt from carrying tarps since he pulls a RGN

I'm pulling a flat. I can go home anytime I want... But right now I got some bills that have fallen behind, so I'm doing what has to be done....
