I thought I'd go ahead & post week 3 numbers.... Week 3 is not all that impressive, but I screwed myself by accepting a load going to a dead freight zone. I did it just to keep myself moving & I knew I screwed myself immediately.... luckily I got out of that dead zone... But it was by means of cheap freight.
8/14/09
Hampton, VA to Suffolk, VA
Suffolk, VA to Ashland, VA
Ashland, VA to South Boston, VA
Finally load.... Going to Belmond, IA
Hub Miles = 1427 Revenue PTT=$1929.29 CPM=$1.35 MPG=5.69
MPG includes 2.5 days of idling... Plus all the hills in VA & WVA
8/18/09
Belmond, IA to Rock Island Arsenal Base, IL
Load going to Santa Fe, NM
Hub Miles=1376 Revenue PTT=$1577.09 CPM=$1.14 MPG=???
8/20/09
Santa Fe, NM to Orogrande Base Camp, NM
Load going to Ft. Riley, KS
Hub Miles=1158 Revenue PTT=$1064.07 CPM=$0.91 MPG=???
The question marks represent that I did not top my tanks off, so I was not able to calculate actual fuel mileage. I only purchased enough fuel to run those loads. 2 reasons why.... #1) Low freight rate. #2) I wanted to save enough money on my comdata card to cover the cost of my PM that was due.... I take 50% of what the loads pay in advance to cover fuel & misc other crap.... The other 50% gets deposited to my bank account at home... I do not have direct access to what has been sent home while I'm on the road. PM was done today.... So I will be topping my tanks off on Monday when I go thru Gary, IN on my way back to Kansas....
Current YTD
Revenue=$12,550.02
Miles=10,167
average cpm=$1.23
average mpg=????
Still able to cover the bills... Plus, I'm under a good load now & have a good one preplanned going back to Kansas after I deliver in Michigan
gone fishing Thanks this. -
don't tear yourself up...that happens and mine said sometimes in that situation he doesn't even figure the DH...in the long run it is down with Mercer anyway......sometimes its more impt to generate revenue than to wait for the gravy load.......it took several months to half-way figure out how it all works and I am still learning new things.......we have been in and out of Houston twice this summer and never let the tires cool off.....

.....now that alone was a record for Houston......
-
I'm not tearing myself up.... I'm actually highly impressed. Sure, the rates can be better. But I am the one making the deadhead calls... I can sit here in this truck stop & wait for that load that is coming out of that mill next door in 3 weeks.... Or I can deadhead down the road & get a load this afternoon or in the morning....
My number of $1.14 per mile was based off from a 10,000 mile month (2500 mile week) & 5.5 mpg average. I've surpassed that 10,000 miles in only 3 weeks & averaged $1.23 with a 6.26 mpg average....
Yeah, I'm happy so far. -
glad to hear your happy...we are too and if mine gets that darn 3 year itch I am gonna hurt him...lol

I guess they want you to have them when u sign on? But, I'm the ultimate captain of my ship.. If I do not want to tarp I don't.. having a RGN doesn't exempt me from tarping.. I choose not to.. I miss machinery loads that are suppose to tarp and some military stuff like tracked vehicals / some strykers. ect. whose hatches won't seal, they want a top tarp to protect the interior & electronics from getting wet..
If anyone wants some real BIG tarps.. I know a buddy that has (2) 12' drops w/ storm flaps on both ends!, 3 rows of "D" rings (# 10', 8', and 6' interval).. color green, medium weight material.. NEW never even opened up!! let me know..
