I'm not too thrilled about the idea.

Figure 14 loads delivered a months, 31 log pages and 1 maintenance report. 46 x $.08 = $3.28. Another $1.12 if you also scan signed BOLs.

A couple $ savings don't make up for another hour/week I have to allocate for the extra paperwork.

Transflo used to be free. Haven't used it in over a yr though. Just needed a lot more locations. Only 3 in CO. None in ND, SD other places.

I didn't say I was thrilled either.... Infact, my words were "Another ####### change without consulting the people who pay for the service"

Not sure if it's just for Mercer contractors, but it's supposed to be $0.19 per page with 4-page minimum. TripPak Scan is $0.20 per page.

$0.08 per page if you download TripPak software and scan in your truck.

Right now, we are paying $6 per month for TripPak overnight service. Honestly I'd rather have them bump up the price to $8 or even $10, and keep it the way it is.

I suppose it won't be so bad if you have a scanner with automatic feeder, but on my little scanner/copier, it's going to be very tedious to scan every log page, delivery sheet and BOL.

At the risk of sounding like an anti-capitalism lunatic liberal, it's just another dirty business tactic.

It's MUCH cheaper for TripPak to transfer data than deliver paperwork overnight physically (which as I noted above, I don't mind if they jacked up the price to cover increased fuel cost), and Mercer can unload one of their duties to us and have whoever's scanning documents now take more productive (for Mercer) position.

Then they shove this excrement down our throad saying it's chocolate mousse, and we get less value from 25% of gross revenue they're taking.

Perhaps we got different emails from Mercer.... Where did you come up with the costs? I didn't see anything in my email mentioning costs, so I just assumed it was going to remain $6.00 a month.

so are we going to be paying per page now for the scanning?

fellows i did the in cab scanning before i came to mercer and it was a breeze to be honest.

6.00 a month now , thats about 63 scanned pages. and you also get to keep the original bill of lading and delivery receipt in your possesion.

when you scan it yourself there will be no more " the trip pak didnt make it here on time for the load to be processed" no more stopping just to put the envelope in trip pak and hope you make it before pickup, no more lost paperwork, just rescan since you still have the original.

i was told when i leased on in feb they were going to this. if ya worried about your scanner buy the one from trippak for 99.00. and look, 31 pages of logs is at .08 2.48 a month for logs , if ya deliver 20 loads a month with a bol and delivery receipt thats another 40 pages at.08 , a total of 3.20 cents which equals to 5.68 a month and you still have all the originals.

quit yer bellyachin, once you do it , you will love it, and how about this, get a printer scanner copier combo and with your internet service on your laptop you can have permits, and all other needed items sent straight to you in cab via e.mail and print them yourself.

this is a blessing and you guys dont know it yet. get back to me in july and post your opinion then.

katz, it will take you less time to scan directly from truck than it does to get off exit, park , and walk inside. as i said think of the other benefits of this

I don't stop just to drop off my TripPak, so that is kinda moot point for me.

I did this scanning thing when I drove for Swift. They switched from envelopes to scanning. I didn't like it, personally. You see those companie drivers holding up the cashier/fuel desk at truck stops, getting their log and BOLs scanned. I was one of them, and believe me, I felt really bad for truckers waiting behind me.

Another one of my concerns is when I take an extended vacation. I can take my log book with me, but I won't have means to scan it when I'm away from my truck/home. I hope Mercer will at least keep the option to send log sheets in their no-postage USPS envelopes.

I already have a copier/scanner/printer in my truck. Like you said, getting OD permits is a breeze. But, it doesn't have automatic feeder function for scanning, so I'll have to scan documents one by one and it'll be time consuming.

That shall conclude my whining. I really hate it when I realize I'm whining and complaining.
