Mercer

I just got off the phone with SweetSouthernRide's boyfriend & his driver... They were asking questions about Mercer & I attempted to answer all of them. I just hope I left them with a positive outlook on the company. I pointed them to this thread & this forum to hopefully give them a better idea. Possibly they can ask some of the same questions they asked me to see if all the Mercer contractor's here have the same answers....

I really need to update this thread with some numbers... My Wi-Fi connections have been rather crappy. So instead of trying to post numbers & fighting the internet, I've been neglecting my duties.

I'll tell ya....I been looking around on all the usual websites for some decent used flats. Of course since decent trailers seem to be holding their value as if they were gold, I'm thinking it might be better to just bight the bullet and drop the cash for a new one.

Since I got six months or so to wait before bringing the second truck, I got time to scrape up cash for the second trailer.

It's just a big ouch to lay out that kind of cash.....almost like the feeling you get when you pass a kidney stone.lol

 

First load out of Mercer was on 7/31/2009. That is when I began calculating my miles right out of Mercertown. These numbers are up to date as of this morning 9/16/2009. A total of 48 days now. And they are based on all miles off the odometer... Not none of that we gonna rob you short miles that a lot of companies play...

Gross Revenue = $23,780.44
Miles Driven = 19,606
Average cpm = $1.21 (that is all miles off the odometer)
Avg. length of haul so far = 1,153 miles

 

Just in the short time I've been leased on... Mercer has made some changes.

They are now requiring TWIC & Hazmat before you can lease on. They also implemented a truck age... 97 or newer.

I called Jason in DR today just to verify & to find out what they intend to do with people like me who don't have a hazmat... Jason said that since I & others like me are already in the system, we don't need to get the hazmat. But it is highly suggested.

Got a quick question for you. I noticed you got bumped off of a couple of loads. How does that work? Can a more senior drive bump a junior driver?

No a senior driver can not bump anyone. I said I was bumped off from loads only because I really wanted that load. Mercer works with a first in/first out system. Who ever gets empty first has first choice of loads. If that driver refuses the load, then it goes to the next driver, & so on until someone accepts it. If no one accepts it, then it gets brokered.

 

I honestly don't think this thread is being followed as much any more. But I'm going to post to it at least one more time. These are my current numbers as of today for the last 2 months!

Total Miles= 24,568
Avg CPM= $1.217
Avg Length of Load= 1,293 miles
Avg MPG= 5.74 (I gotta work on this)

 

oh you know I show up here......I need to run the numbers and see I don't have the miles UNLESS i use what comes on the pay stubb.......

 

If I used just the loaded miles, my CPM average would be much higher.

 

definately...he doesn't keep the diligent miles...he just dissregards the d/h I am the record keeper a feind about it......
