Ahhhhh yes indeed! My plates went bad while I was in WY and Louisville never renewed, and I had to buy a temp pass in WY. This is the drivers fault of course as the fine professional that you are you would know that it is up to the driver to ensure all his or her permits are in order. So I get the dummy button on my hat!

I guess that solves that, my Pre-Pass is an invalit. Thank you.

That is a nice wide shot of your truck, where did you take it?

    jyhm,

Thanks for the compliment on the photo. That was taken at the Desert Hills Shooting Club in Henderson, NV about 9am. it is a 360 degree panorama. If you look closely you'll see the right and left side would match up. I use it as the header on one of my websites, using the whited out cloud in front of the truck for text. Figured it would be good here.

Mercer will contact PrePass and it may take a couple days to get straightened out, but a similar issue happened with two of my trucks and we were frustrated for constantly getting pulled in. When I finally called the girls that take care of the PrePass they worked it out in a week or two. No more red lights. I understand the frustration because I was about to cancel both of the transponders and give them back.

Just one more part of the job they don't tell the kiddies about in today's "professional" truck driving academies.

I am a former UPS driver and I ran for Mercer from 05/'01 until 12/'06...

I ran the UPS deal out of Richmond, VA the first two years I was with the company. I mostly ran Harrisburg, PA every night with an occasional Florida load in between....

I started in late September and ran for Buster Brown until the 22nd of December then headed home.

I made real good $$$...ran every night but had plenty of sleep after I dropped/re-hooked my "set"...

I liked the steady work but I was already familiar with how UPS runs... different world from regular trucking.

How is freight with Mercer right now?
I live in Indiana and hope it's a good move.
I'm not looking to run hard, kinda like regional and with lot of steel mills around.
I've heard step deck will hender my loads with Mercer. Is this true?
How often should they get me through southern Indiana?
I do own my own trailer, and not looking to switch that.
What is good areas and bad areas for Mercer?

Midwest is probably the best place to be with more load choices than anywhere else. Since you make the decision what loads to accept you decide your home time. Not a lot of hand-holding here, decisions are in your hands.

I've heard the same about steps decks since day one, but I also see a lot of loads I cannot haul because I don't have one. If that's what you own I'd keep it and not take on any more debt until (IF?) the economy is on solid ground again.

Have you concidered the midwest as a relocation point. It might keep ya loaded to the house a bit more?

The flat/step thing goes both ways. I pull a step and see alot of loads I can't haul. I wish I could own three trailers. A flat, step, and rgn. But then I would never have the right trailer with me.

Can anyone explain this: Mercer has about 2k trucks and receives lower fuel discount then the company with less trucks using the same major truck stop chains. Ex: 11/28/11 in the Richmond VA vicinity of i95. All of the fuel stops were in the neighborhood of $3.51 per gallon. At the same time, the company with about 400-450 trucks were priced at $3.06 per gallon. This is the OTR company. They are not out of VA. They do not fuel only in that area. By comparing my prices vs theirs, they were $.30-$.45 cheaper then Mercer.
Something to think about: What are the chances that Mercer is making money off of drivers at the fuel stops. Drivers might be getting a discount on fuel vs the pump advertised price but, Mercer has negotiated lower price than being shown to the drivers.
I do have a picture of the qualcom which stated the price of $3.06 vs Mercer's $3.51 vs pump price of about $3.81.
