Your welcome! I have never had a special tarp for coils. I have hauled a lot of them. I just use a steel tarp. If you haul a lot of pipe a small smoke tarp is nice so you don't have to drag out a bigger tarp tho. You should be OK as long as you can cover 8 foot high plus the length of your trailer. Lumber tarps are heavy about 150 lbs and the avg steel tarp is about 75 lbs.

Good idea to have pipe stakes for TX. There is a lot of pipe loads that require extra timbers and stakes. A lot of that stuff you can add as you go. V-boards also come in handy. Last set I made I used 2x4's, but that is a lot of weight compared to 1x4's

Thanks, that was a pain in the butt load to tarp. Too soft to get on top of it. Really should have went in a box except for a piece of machinery in the back. The tarps was more less to help secure and keep it from blowing all over the highway.

See if you can find some furniture pads... Or possibly go buy some scrap carpet in Dalton... Either one of those will defiantly protect your tarps.

Try to get your tarps from a 3rd. party. I have the Mercer tarps & am not impressed by them. The steel tarps seem to be OK... I didn't buy the lumber tarps, I bought 3 machinery tarps. And like notarps said, if you have a 8' load 48' long, you will need at least 5 machinery tarps to get the job done.

I'm looking elsewhere for tarps. As soon as I get a maintenance issue straight, I'm buying some real tarps.

I used to keep 4 6ft by 10ft carpet for machinary and glass and a big bag of disposable diapers for glass racks.Your old leather gloves and duct tape works pretty good for corner protectors in a pinch.I might see you all down there soon as I have been talking to a recruiter.I am tired of seeing my stepdeck just sitting and figure I had probably better put it back to work before it rots.
