Wow, nobody has posted in this thread in a week. You guys must be staying busy (not a bad thing, of course).
A little update, and a question...
I found a trailer for sale with a bunch of equipment (almost brand new 3-piece lumber tarps, chains 'n' binders, straps, etc) for $7500, so I bought it right after Christmas. It is a '98 Lode King 48 x 102, air ride and adjustable spread axles. Not as nice looking as late-model aluminum trailers, but the price was too good to pass up and it will get the job done.
Got pre-approved for leasing about a week ago, and I started shopping around for a tractor. Found a clean '07 Century and applied for financing. They wanted $8k more down on top of $8k I allocated for downpayment plus 15+% APR, so that didn't work out.
Then right after that, I found an ex-Melton '06 T600 with engine uprated to 475hp in Colorado. Talked to the sales manager at the dealership on Monday morning, faxed my loan application and got approved yesterday afternoon. So I'll be off to Colorado to see the truck this weekend, or maybe early next week. Hopefully, I won't come home empty-handed.
Now my question...
I'm having a tough time trying to find rubber mats for steel coils. Can you get those at Mercer? One tarp shop in Ohio seems to carry them on their online store, but they want $35 for shipping 6 mats priced at $45.
Also can you get beveled dunnage at Mercer? I can make those if I had to, though it would be more convenient to just buy them. -
Not sure about the coil pads. My truck already had them. No; on the bevel boards. Matter of fact their 4x4's are junk. Light as a toothpick and will break real easy. They are not even 4x4's. Maybe 2.75 x 3's.

You can by the coil pads from Mercer. I can't remember the price of them though. Trailer dealers also carry some flatbed equipment. What shop did you look at online in Ohio?
I bought everything I have from Mercer. Can't remember if I got beveled boards or not. I'll have to look when I get loaded.
I'm not sure what boards notarps got, but as for 4x4's... Mine are heavy & stout. Don't use them all that much though as most shippers use there own dunnage. -
I bought the ones they had and they was about as straight as a dogs back leg, cheap and thin. My first load several broke when the load was set on them. I picked up 4 x 4's at lowes.
