####, you guys type fast. Bear with me, please. I type slow as English is my second language.

What speed do you have to govern your truck at?

I have 2 years of flatbed experience. Lots of lumber, steel coils, vehicles (Dodge Sprinter vans, Humvees), roof tar sheets, roof tiles, chicken fences, sheet rocks, slinkys, iron pipes, highway sign poles, cattle fences, and bunch of other things I can't remember on top of my head. But sitting through tie down class doesn't seem like a bad idea.

I was hoping you'd say that.

Now you have gone beyond my knowledge. That is something you should ask Mercer about. You will be licensed to go up there, but no one is forcing you. We are about as independent you can get without actually going independent. In short, we do our own trucking. You have 4 Mercer drivers responding to this thread & a respected 3rd party O/O. They are all my friends.... But in the end, they are still my competitors.

Ontario & Quebec Provinces require all trucks doing business within their boundaries to be governed at 65 mph. ALL TRUCKS!

Yes, but some of the loads I've seen paying $2+ per mile only go 50 to 100 miles over. I'm not sure of the hassles involved, but deadheading back to the US will be a option at $2+. I saw one last week coming out of Laredo going to BC that paid $2.32 per mile.

Mine was 3 days. But we had 12 people & notarps in there. But I wouldn't shut my mouth long enough for them to orientate us! I was ######## about the sales pitch. They even tried to sell us the turbo3000

Actually, that will be an improvement for me. Have you passed a Swift truck lately? :biggrin_2559:

After I left Swift, I drove for an O/O friend of mine for about 6 weeks. It scared the crap out of me the first time I drove a big rig at 70mph! LOL.

You'll be fine. Just remember, load securement is more common sense then actual work. If you get something that your not quite sure how to secure or want to know if it is chain or straps.... Just ask at the shipper how they's like you to secure that.

Military... We do a lot of military. All vehicles & trailers have to have 4 points of securement minimum. You can do 4 points with 2 chains & 4 binders.
