Can't help it! I'm Irish & sarcastic!
-
I already knew that!

Katz...
Another thing... Mercer is very very very strict with being legal. especially with CSA2010 approaching. They don't want no violations in any way whats so ever.... Not even a warning anymore. Apparently with CSA2010 warnings will work against us.
So make sure everything is legal & up to date. If you have to make changes after you shut down for the night, thats all on you! Just make sure everything looks nice & pretty so when a DOT officer inspects you... You come out smelling like a rose.
I'm also guessing this is your first stint as a O/O... I respect you with your choice to better yourself. I'm not going to hold Swift against you or anybody, we gotta start somewhere. But remember, the vehicle & trailer maintenance is all on you & all your dollar. Inspect your equipment daily. If you see something that you think needs to get fixed.... Get it fixed. If you ain't got the money at the time, then get it fixed as soon as you can.
Oil changes.... I'd say every 12-15 thousand miles. Grease every zerk on the truck & trailer weekly if your able. If you can do your work on your own, then you'll save some money. If your a lazy ####### like me.... Then you will be paying someone to do it. Change fuel filters with your oil changes.... Check tire pressure every day if not every other day. When you grease, don't forget to grease the hood stops..... This will help keep the hood from squeaking while your driving down the road.
Drive the truck like it is your most precious commodity. Repair are costly. -
What's the deal with spread in the western provinces? Are the writing us up for something in particular?
What did you mean they treat the spread as a single? You mean just as any normal closed tandem, 34K lb? -
Inspect the truck thoroughly before you purchase it. I'm not to keen on the problem points for a KW... So perhaps someone else can chime in & tell you what to really concentrate on. If you see something on the truck you don't like, ask the dealer to fix it before you sign the dotted line.... Get it in writing & don't sign nothing till it's fixed. If they refuse, then walk away. Trucks are a dime a dozen right now.
Katz Thanks this. -
From what I've been told they treat it as a single axle.....20,000 pounds. -
I talked to a guy that just came out of orientation last week. He had know clue about csa 2010 said they did not mention it. But he might have been sleeping
-
WHAT??? Total weight of both axles limited to 20,000? That's insane. Now I've got to try to go look up Canadian regulations.
