    CSA2010 is such a new deal.... I really don't think anyone really understands it just yet. That may be the reason why Dean didn't mention anything in orientation. Nothing was mentioned in my orientation 7 months ago either.

    7 pages of nothing but good information given just today! I hope we didn't put Mr. Katz into a overload frenzy... I'm just trying to help assist him so he won't have any surprises.

    It gives you everything to do with repairs in the radius that you search. Including a wrecker if needed, after all you are buying a KW & motels.

    Katz, get the prepass box. It is $12 a month thru Mercer. You can get Norpass also if you like. I don't have that scale bypass box since KY & NC are the only states I've seen use it. ummmm....


    Oh Yeah!!! The roaming service truck! There is a roaming service truck that preys on Mercer trucks in Louisville. During your inspection, if Mercer finds something wrong.... For some reason this truck shows up! It is called Knowles Truck Service & personal experience tells me to tell you to avoid them at all costs unless you have no choice! I think they are just shade tree mechanics.... If you need anything dome to your truck in Louisville & you don't have the tools or the knowledge to do it yourself, then call Onsite. Just ask at the inspection office for their number... They are trained & work cheaper.

    We briefly discussed CSA2010 in my class, but I've been trying to tell drivers about it for a long time and they all told me I was full of BS a year ago.

    Reading about size and weight limits in Canada and it appears some provinces ignore enforcement on spread axles, but apparently the only place they are legal is ON & QU. This is something that caught me by surprise.

    So those of us with spreads can only go to the two provinces that require speed limiters ... isn't that just wonderful.

    ON, QU, & NWT permit spread, each with a different weight limit.

    In Louisville I was going to have Knowles look at a problem I had on my tractor. Well a couple of us figured out what the problem was on our own and it was no big deal. But, I called in my service request on Monday, and Thursday afternoon I cornered one of their trucks in the yard and they said I "was on the list". Trucks in orientation are lowest priority over trucks loaded or waiting for a load. As of 5pm Tues most drivers were eligible to load, so that's a bunch of crap. Sorry but they didn't impress me. I think there's a place directly south of the yard just 2-3 miles.

    Those may be provinces where they don't enforce the regulations. If the chance ever comes to get a load up to AK I sure would hate to pass it up just for that.

    That happens to be where I am now!


    That would be onsite. $68 hour labor charge is a steal out here on the road. That is their charge whether you go to them or they come to you. I'm thinking about letting them do my clutch...

    Originally thought about meeting up with blackw900 & possibly convincing him to work on it with me in his shop over on the west coast... But after several conversation, I have come to the conclusion that we both would #### off way to much!

    I would love that load. But what would you haul back? An ice berg to al gores house? I'm still wondering why we still have operating authority in Hawaii... I know the story behind it, but that has been years ago.

    My business partner is in HI, Hickam AFB .

    The AK load I want is round trip and you have to sit a week or two up there for the return. I'd have two weeks to take whatever photos I could up there weather permitting, good for the portfolio and stock collection.
