One time I was in Iowa, and let the dog out I never used a leash, and he usually just followed at my heels. Not this day. He got out, gave a look, and took off. I did the same thing, called and whistled. I called my wife and told her. She was thrilled because he was always difficult. Her family is from Iowa, and her aunt a dog lover. Her aunt searched for the dog, and found him a few weeks later. She brought him to her house, and sent him back to us when my in-laws came for a visit.

Angelo was micro-chipped. A few days later I got a call saying that he was found & was being housed at the Humane Society up there. They wanted $150 just for me to come pick him up... That is 3 times more then what I originally paid. But I thought I'd go pick him up & take him home to stay with the other dogs.... And may I add a cat now? Daughter called tonight telling all about her new cat!!! Anyhow, I couldn't find a load going up there. After a week they called back & said there is a family who would like to adopt him... But since it was my dog they couldn't. I told them to get a hold of that family & allow them to adopt him...

same goes for passenger too at some places. One yesterday was "no pets, no passengers, no radios, no cellphones, no cameras, no stun guns, no guns"
All in the name of security. Can't phone or radio for help, dog can't bite them, can't get a picture of the people stealing your load, and can't shoot them. Yup, thats how you ensure your load is secure in transit by intimidating the criminal!
And yes Redd, those were not just pickup/delivery location requirements, that was a load requirement for enroute. I've never seen anything like that before.
Pets work okay for some people, and aren't suited for others. As much as I like animals I couldn't have one in the truck. I did order a pet from Penthouse once but all they sent me was a stinkin magazine.
Redd, she would've smelled better than the dog and not shed all over either, I think you could have handled traveling with a pet afterall

Greetings from Tulsa, OK.
Just a quick update. We drove all night long yesterday, and I'm ready to hit the sack.
The Ex-Melton T6 in Colorado Springs was pretty beat up. There were enough evidences that raised serious concerns inside me. I thanked the sales manager there and left. Fired up my ancient laptop at a nearby Burger King to look for another prospective truck.
Found another ex-Melton T6 in Tulsa. Pics really don't mean much, but at least it was apparent this one had been taken better care of. It's still set at 435hp, but the price is cheaper by $2500. Called the dealership to confirm they still have it, and we left Colorado Springs yesterday afternoon.
Arrived at Boyd Truck Center in Tulsa, OK late this morning. After my visial inspection, they made a copy of my CDL, and off I went for a spin.
It drove really nice. I think I found my first truck. I didn't bother to take pics, as everyone knows what Melton T600 looks like.
I'm dozing off as I'm typing this. Will check back tomorrow morning. -
Well if you hang around long enough... You might get a chance to meet me! I'm just outside of Tulsa about 10 miles right now in Catoosa, OK. Should be unloading around 7 or 8 in the morning local time. Don't have a reload yet, so I'd probably run into Tulsa to take a bath & maybe a nap!

We're still here. The dealer lot is right behind MHC KW off 222A on I-44. If you got time to stop, give me a call 760-331-3428. There's QT with truck parking area.
I decided to go with the truck. Financing got approved through Paccar.
The only thing is the dealership is a small mom & pop type business and Paccar will not fund them directly. So the truck will be "sold" to a Pete dealership in Dallas first, and they'll sell it to me. The middle man wants $1250, but I think it still is a pretty good deal. Total comes out to $36,750. Will be taking care of paperwork today, wire transfer downpayment, fix VIN# on my insurance, etc.
Hopefully we can head home tomorrow afternoon. Mercer's pre-approval is good until Jan 30th. I'll have to send pics and the rest of application paper as soon as I get home.
