    Congratulation Dr. Katz!

As for your permits... I don't know what you need on the west side. I ran Tennessee, Georgia, & Kentucky with just the temp the dealer gave me. Keep your permits & reciepts that your getting! They are a tax write off!!

Yes I'm awake! Still in Amarillo!! Had a bad bad bad bad dream last night! Drempt that I got 3 level 1 inspection in one day. So before I leave here I'm going to have my truck washed & serviced!

Snow on I-10? I didn't see any yesterday, though rain was coming down pretty hard between Deming and Tucson.

    Hey thanks Redd!

I had a sign that read "In Transit, Not for hire" on each door when I went through scales in NM and AZ. I think it actually caught their attention. I may have been able to just pass through if I didn't have them. I ripped them off yesterday night.

I passed through two CA scales (Banning and Magic mountain area) without any problem. Guess I wasted $50 on CA permit. Then again, with my luck, I'd probably have been caught if I didn't have the permit.

Will keep the receipts, permits, etc. Thanks!

Speaking of, is there such thing as a small scanner/printer combination machine? I think it will come in handy being able to scan receipts, print permits, etc. But I haven't been able to find one so far.

Another thing... Get your set-up a annual DOT before you get to Louisville. They will DOT it as well... But at least you would have an good idea if anything needs to be repaired before you lease on.

I do the Mercer DOT by their request, but I also get a annual DOT on my own. It is like going to a doctor & getting a second opinion.

We ran one truck with a new tag, no permits, and the other truck didn't even have a tag. No issues through NC, VA, WV and KY. Ran the whole trip after dark and on a Sun night which may have helped. You can probably run Fri, Sat and Sun nights to Louisville.

Katz, make sure Chris sends you a letter stating you're approved to lease to Mercer and you are traveling enroute to orientation. He has a standard form letter for that. Most carriers have something like it. It does not replace having tags and all that but legally it is a big gray area trying to move a tractor and/or trailer to get to the company you are going to lease on with.
