Alright. I'll try to get it done on the way. I'm leaving here on Wednesday afternoon-ish. I can probably make it in 3 days, but I'd like to give myself a little cushion just in case.
The thing is, most of AZ scale houses on the major interstates are open 24/7. I'm hoping I can get away with a cheap temp trip permit since I paid $128 a few days ago. On this permit/temp registration paper they gave me, it says it's good for 30 days, but it also states point of entry and exit.
I'll call Chris tomorrow morning, and ask him about the letter. I got the title for my trailer from DMV, so I'll have to fax it to him and make sure he gets it anyway.
The attached file is a pic of my rig I took before the sun went down. Looks just like any other Melton T6, doesn' it?

Fratsit Thanks this. -

It looks better then that CFI T6 that I've seen!!!!
-
REDD you are gonna get hurt...KAtz would have preferred your truck but with a studio sleeper....lol
-
Indeed I do, lol.
That pic shows the better side. The other side looks more like a CFI truck
with no tool box and a little vent instead of the window. Speaking of, I didn't know those KW sleeper windows don't open. It's pretty useless.
I took care of just about every paperwork. Got the letter from Chris, 2290 paid, etc. The only thing left is a scale ticket, which I'll get on the way.
I did weigh the truck the other day after filling up the tanks, just for sh!ts and giggles - 31,850 lbs. I didn't have all the equipments and my stuff on board, but it was lighter than expected, considering 12 steel wheels and giant 11R24.5 tires on the trailer. Adding snow chains, my cloth, and a bunch of other crap will probably bring it to 32,400-ish.
I'll be doing final look-over on the truck today, grease up joints, change some filters, etc. I'll be heading out tomorrow noon-ish. Hopefully it won't snow too much in Flagstaff. -
Dr. Katz....
If you like, I can give you the name of the Authorized Mercer inspection locations along your trip. Of course you will have to pay for the DOT inspection & it is always a good thing to do a annual anyhow on your own. -
I agree on getting your own inspection, although I prefer to get it from the shop I deal with locally that way you know who is doing it.
As to the Mercer inspection, isn't the policy that the first one has to be done at Louisville, and then at least one every 12 mo has to be there also? Remainder of inspections can be done at outside authorized locations.
Katz, there's a lot of poor truckers out there right now. Maybe you can trade out your wheels and get aluminum all around on 22.5LP tires and lose some weight. Redd probably knows a guy, who knows a guy, that can help you out
I'm looking for a west coast load now, last I heard I was #2 on the board and may have moved up since then.

Yes your correct! The 1st. Mercer inspection has to be done in Louisville. Then your mid year inspections can be done at Louisville or a authorized third party location with your annual in Louisville.
Now if you happen to get a DOT Level 1 and pass with flying colors near your mid year or annual inspection..... Then that will trump the Louisville or 3rd. party inspectors & is completely acceptable!
The reason why I suggest he take it to a authorized Mercer location is because those places know what Mercer looks for! I had a non-affiliated location do my annual before I leased on. Mercer still found items that needed to be fixed before they would put their name on my door. Nothing major though, just my spring shackles were loose. And that is common with these Pete 379's.
As for me knowing someone who knows someone who knows someones cousin who knows my first cousin who just happens to know me..... I see you've been reading the threads! I hate third party hear say!
I'm actually thinking about going to 22.5 low pro super singles! But I'm not sure what I will need to do to my speedo to adjust for these 24.5 I've got!
