The last I knew (I've been with Mercer over 5 years) they cannot make you buy one of their trailers... If they try just ask to speak to their supervisor... or write a letter / email to the head of recruiting.. I don't see how they can force you to buy a trailer through them as a condition to lease on.. That sounds like a lawsuit just waiting to happen.. Not the way Mercer does things..

As for the Utility trailer in truckpaper.. it looks okay.. Some little things were messed up..(mud flap messed up, couldn,t see the tire tread verry well, or brakes.., how's the deck, how many winches, dump valve?, chain pulls?, coil package?, container locks?, no tool boxes..

The price seems fine, looks like a decent entry level trlr. for someone. I'm not defending Mercer's trailers. They're not the cheapest I realize that. They are an option for some who don't have any other way of getting their own or are unsure as to if they should is all..:)

Seems to me the trailer policies change depending on which way wind is blowing around Louisville.

When I initially contacted Mercer in November last year, I was told they are not leasing any stepdeck. When I showed up for orientation on Feb 1st, 3 out of 5 trucks signing on had stepdecks and one of them was leasing a trailer from Mercer.

Oh yeah, I already made enough to retire tomorrow!! Just so long as I come out of retirement the day after that, LOL.

Things are going OK, all things considered. "Start up" cost keeps lingering on, and not much money left in bank after all the bills are paid.

I was home for about 10 days, doing repairs on truck and trailer so that didn't help. An O/O friend of mine jokes around and says he works at home and vacation starts the moment he comes back on the road. Now I see he wasn't totally joking.

Didn't have much time to relax, but I fixed up most of the issues that have been bugging me (oil leak, hole on the deck, buffing out the traces of hood mirrors, etc). Now I'm back on the road. Should be able to stay out longer this time around.

I also made some vinyl numbers and door signs. My friend used to run a sign shop and I helped them a little while I was unemployed a few years ago. I still have access to the plotter and software, and luckily, there was some vinyl leftovers in colors I wanted.
