I have done short work in TX. WI and MO. Sometimes it is worth it sometimes not. I spent a few days in KC one time Ran a couple runs from OK to Joplin. Was having a hard time getting out of there that time. Freight rate stunk and I was not taking a load down into the bottom of FL. I told my dispatcher the idea is to get out of a bad area but not go into another one back to back.
-
oh come on where was your sirit of adventure...they should have given you that load of lumber and should not of had a restriction on it...that was the agents fault there but by the time I found out too late for you to fix that.......
-
So you need to be flexible, in other words. I guess I'll leave that up to the coordinator. They seem to be able to see what's ahead (I never saw this OD load I'm hauling right now on the board).

Story time?

Gotta get going. Have a good weekend, and catch you all later! -
thanks for the reply's and thank you to lil blue pony for the pm!
how long are you all staying out for? Reason I ask is because I have a 5 year old daughter that I get visitation with every other weekend. So the most I could stay out for is 2 weeks at a time. Do you think that will hurt me at all? -
u definitely should be looking # a APU from Fridgette
-
or always has those reels going to tx

well I have an opinion here but its based on me living in MO the land of no freight....It may be better for you in Ohio..by the 3 month you will know....you might be ok...did you tell the recruiter about this? In all honesty we get home about once every 4-6 weeks.....and its for a touch and go...rarely for longer than that....and not always a weekend....
-
Yes I did tell the recruiter, the response was "Living in northern Ohio gives you a lot of options. You could do a lot of the shorter runs and stay pretty much regional and be home a lot more often than the normal OTR driver"
I like to believe what the recruiters tell me, BUT I have learned that they aren't always 100% honest. I used to stay out 3-4 weeks at a time. but after my daughter was born and my wife left me it kinda changes things. (the kid part, not the ex-wife haha)
