Actually I was a bed bugger back in 95 out of Indianapolis. My first trip out as o/o delivered in mid town Manhatten sky rise, for some reason no one wanted to go and it was paying pretty #### $$ good $$. (not even including $500 tip)
I thought about relocating but if I do, then I have to go get a "new wife and kids" because they won't move. Something about leaving civilization and falling off the earth deal. If I was still young and few pounds lighter (maybe) maybe I could find a newer model................ Awww, forget it. I don't think I could find another wife or kids who could put up with me without killing me in my sleep.

smurf-316 why was the link broken for this post? It seems the video is still on youtube.
Does anyone have a comment about this guys video? Are the agents at Mercer that bad to the point of being absolute d*cks? Or is this guy a loony that is omitting information?
Thanks -
he took the video off my post because the F word was in the name of the video. I cant tell you about mercer, but Dave isn't BSing in his videos.

That's cool but if he's not BSing then the people that post in here about Mercer are. All I am asking is why hasn't anyone else said this about Mercer here. It can't be a company cover up,..LOL!
Thanks -
It could be that this one Driver Manager is a D**k and no one on the forum has had him. OR This could have been a one time thing with this Driver Manager. Who knows lol

I watched this video and quite honestly this man is hard to follow. The confusing points are as follows: first he gets a load that delivers on a certain day, then he tells the agent he can't be there that day, so it gets rescheduled to a day that the driver request. Then the driver arrives on the day of the original appointment, what is that all about??? Who's fault is it that he gets a parking ticket?? One has to remember this is government freight, it sometimes doesn't make a lot of sense but they do it the way they do it and that's it! It gets inspected and that provides a do nothing Gman a JOB!!!
Then he is number one on the board, but he won't answer his phone while he is at home for a month, because he is "busy doing things in the yard". He claims to have been in trucking for 24 years, but this sounds very new guy type stuff to me.
Mercer is in business to make money and provide a service, They want experienced people, that may be why they don't run a driving school.
Honestly, I would question why any one would rent a trailer for $1000.00 / month when one could be bought for about $300/month but then that's just me. I got a Transcraft with the rust and cracks for $5500 and that included new tarps, side boxes, straps, alum wheels and bungees.
Maybe check my free advice thread where I mention that in every situation someone has to be "the professional".
One thing appears certain, this trucker is /was very upset and Mercer wasn't the match for him. It's very tough to make ago of things when your broke ( who hasn't been there) and your hiding the truck from the repo man. I hope life is better for him today
This man's testimony wouldn't /doesn't discourage me from leasing to Mercer. -
He had a delivery that he couldn't make on time because it was oversize so he could only run certain hrs in some states and he didn't have the hrs to get it there on time. So he took out a 2nd log book and said screw the hr restrictions because his DM said they had a crane scheduled and a guy that was going to be there to inspect the load that couldn't be rescheduled. He got a ticket on the load before because he parked exactly where the customer told him to on the street right along with a bunch of other trucks and cars. The cop only wrote 2 tickets even though there were a bunch of trucks and cars.
I'm not sure why the trailer rent is $1000/month but he rented it from mercer.
And its a yes and no on his life being better. He gave the truck back he has a video of the drive to drop it off.
BUT he's going to India and making a Trucking TV show for the History Channel. That Andrew Kimmel guy that posted on this forum about that show, saw his videos and YouTube and asked him to do the show.
I don't know any thing about mercer other then whats in his videos and on this forum. So I'm not saying anything good/bad about mercer as I have no experience with them, just wanted to show one guys experience with them.

Thanks High Seas, Ive heard the Mercer trailer lease is $600. But you can get out easy if you don't like leasing with them.
Do you know good dealers with trailer financing? I try to google it but I get mixed results.
Thanks -
I was looking at some of his other YouTube videos and they're not that bad actually. He seems like somewhat decent type of fellow, whos frustrated and has reached the bottom of his financial limit. A real plight of an average American trucker, facing the economic hardship of our current industry. An American underdog trying to make it out there as an o/o in todays financial state. He knows how to drive (several yrs of truck driving experience), fixes his own truck (to more degree than most o/o that Ive known) and tries to operate within the law. He tried to convey that to broker and to Mercer dispatch but didnt get any support from neither. From the impression that I got from his other videos: hes somewhat knowledgeable, communicates well (at least from the directors point of view), has good understanding of trucking industry as a whole and a straight shooter. He operates a cheaper gas generator so he doesnt idle his truck which saves him some $$$ and fines. But on personal side, not sure about managing his finances though: from the condition of his home / perceived economic level he seems to have the luxury to spend $$ in other areas that doesnt improve his living standards. (Video cameras, internet YouTube upload, lots of large tools, etc ) Having hobbies are great but what percentage of income does it become something else.
There must be something missing but didnt hold too right with me. Im in the process of leasing on with Mercer and to tell you the truth, it hit something. Usually o/o lease onto motor carriers for support and security from what I could tell he didnt get any. Seeing that utter frustration on that drivers face (for trying to do things the right way) and that last ride to repo man, cant beat a man down much than that. Any driver, who have been out there for a long period of time, knows what hes going through. Peace!
