This is going no where and adds nothing to this thread. You admit you had no interest in transportation before deregulation. yet you insist your comment about how business was done before you were involved is accurate. News Flash , just because you believe it to be true doesn't make it so!!!
I hauled produce in the 70 and 80's. Your comment about other truckers of a time period of which you were not a part of is condescending and frankly ignorant.![]()

At least you're right about that, it's getting nowhere and doesn't help this thread! I tell you what, ignore my posts and I'll do the same for yours. I don't see any mutual benefits on either side and your experience obviously differs from mine. It would take a whole lot more than few sentences on these threads to fully explain every minute detail in conversing with each other (I don't think we're in the same wave length here) and even though we're communicating in English, neither party comprehends each other. I won't go into telling you what I think of you or even hazard to guess the type of person you are because quite frankly I don't know you nor had your acquaintance face to face
BTW - I thought personal attacks weren't allowed here.

Good news today!! Just got approved with Mercer!! Have not hauled a load with them yet and I am already impressed with the way things have been handled so far. Now I just need to pick a date to be in Louisville.

Hello everyone and thanks for your posts and your valuable information.
I talked to one of the recruiters at Mercer and they said that I can buy headache racks at Louisville and there is a person there who installs them on the side.
My question is if this is true and what can I expect to buy from them? I also requested a price from my dealer to install a basic rack with chain hangers and no cabinets and I am waiting to do a comparison.
Does anyone have experience putting a headache rack on a Kenworth T2000 or if there is any details I need to consider?
Thanx! :smt039 -
Knowles Tk service does contract work at Mercers' property ( think they charge $100 +) but most people in my orientation class helped each other putting them on. The 3 door enclosed headache rack costs $1650 + up. Don't remember the price on open models. The mounting kits are included. As long as your frame rail is not obstructed (side boxes, deck plate, etc...) it's fairly simple as long as you have the tools to tighten 4 nuts. Knowles refused to install on mine because my tk has stainless steel deck plate but we wind up doing it ourselves and it was pretty simple. If you're buying equipments from Mercer, you're supposed to have 50% down payment. I spent approx. $4200 for everything (ordered tarps from TriCity and shipped to Mercer $985 total) but I paid mine up front for everything.jyhm Thanks this. -
Great, thanx for the info! Would that be the same as this Knowles Truck service?

Yes, that's them. He's has X number of trucks leased onto Mercer, teaches Flatbed tie down classes at orientation and has tire trucks servicing incoming Mercer flatbeds before being leased out.
