You may very well be guilty as sin, but I wouldn't just roll over and die by showing up at a court date and pleading guilty.

    No way, José.

What I've done in the past is pleaded not guilty and awaited a further court date.
If the ticketing officer does not show up, your charges are dismissed.

It may be a longshot considering whatever the officers' schedule is like, but it won't cost you a dime, and could end up saving you a few dimes.

I agree I would just add one important point. This is up to the discretion of the Judge. I had something like this to happen to me. I have already written several times about my case back in Habersham County Georgia State Court in 2009. In my case, I pled not guilty and asked for a Jury trial. On my first court date, I had no Jury and no Officer there. I even told the Judge it was unfair for me to have to take more time off work. Judge Crawford said he would give the State a continuance. I finally won the case, but I had to go back. I do think 99% of the time a Judge will dismiss or delay a case for later the same day to give the officer time to get there. Just pointing out a Judge is not forced to dismiss but thankfully most will, they don't like having the courts time wasted like that.

It ain't because of just illegals. Many people American born drive without insurance, license, and registration. People weren't buying insurance because it can get expensive so they cut that cost and hope for the best. In the past I've been caught driving with no insurance. My reasoning was trying to cut costs so I can buy diapers and such for very small kids at that time.

I don't know; no one that works there has posted that I know of.
