How long are people banned? I see some with that title under their name posting.

People can be banned anywhere between 7 days and permanently.

Thanks for asking that question. I have been wondering the same myself for some time. I have seen regulars here, who I deemed as decent respectable posters, all of a sudden disappear under the auspices of "Banned or retired", but could never figgure why. I could only assume they might have posted something that one of the trigger happy moderators disagreed with (No, not you Cybergalhottie)

Thanks also to Wiseone for the explanation. I've recieved some infractons myself, (from some posters here in this very thread), over chickensheet stuff. I didnt know about the 20 demerit points either. ####, I have none on my driving record, but have accumulated 8 here at TR.

Someone wipe my slate clean, wouldja !?!?!? LOL

This is what we do and always will deal with. the comment "trigger happy Mod" is way off. If you are banned by a Mod then that Mod had to show good cause. AND the other Mods had to agree with it. INCLUDING Wiseone and Cybergal seeing they are over the Rest of the Moderators.
We can't ban someone simply because we disagree with them. If we did then Wiseone or Cybergal would fire our ### in a heartbeat.
We have lots of wonderful & helpful members here. but we also sometimes get people who come here and are disrespectful to the other members or Mods and show no regard for the rules Wiseone has created for the site.
And THAT's the people who are not here anymore.

Unfortunately we have to BAN based on the rules. A ban can be just a few days of a vacation or it can be permanent.

As you all know it's really tough to please everyone on this board. There are alot of other Truckers forums out there that are faced with the same type of situation as ours when it comes to banning.

I know.......I WAS an ADMIN way before I became one here at a few other Trucking Websites and know that this problem does exist.

THERE is nothing wrong with agreeing to disagree at all. BUT, there are times this gets carried away into stuff that is not tolerated on this board.

WISEONE made the rules, we as STAFF base our decisions on the RULES and unfortunately that gets us into trouble, but it must be done.

THIS is the BEST TRUCKING BOARD out there on the WEB! Iam basing this decision on the information we have, the GREAT members we have, the HELPFUL members we have, the GREAT staff that we have, and also I have seen how others are run, and this one as a PRIVATELY owned WEBSITE, is more then AWESOME!

SO, please ENJOY IT and don't fret. LIFE is to short! lol

AS LONG as YOU are not a spammer and you don't threaten someones life, and you are willing to work out issues with us. YOU will see we aren't so bad to communicate with after all.

I think banning is a good thing. We can all agree to disagree...everyone has an opinion, and we should welcome opinions other than our own. If not this would be a very boring society and the Constitution would be null and void! I do have problems with people making personal attacks and name calling. Some folks just need time out...I would hate to say something stupid and get a banner saying I had been banned, though.

Assume...you should know better than to assume things.
There have been a number of times when someone who has been a regular here asks to be banned for whatever reason they may have.

As far as infractions and banning go, like smurf said, Wiseone and Cyber keep an eye on things like that and if we make a mistake they are not afraid to let us know, and we will rectify the situation. Mostly if people post responsibly you won't have any trouble with us "trigger happy mods".
