A lot of times on the CB I hear people talking and their mics beep when they hit the button. What kinds of mics do that or what kind of CBs do that?

It's called a roger beep, and most are boards added to the internals of the radio.. Originally designed for SSB work but more and more use it on AM..
-
You mean when they get done talking it goes *beep*? That's a roger beep. It's designed to let the other party know when your transmission is over. Especially on SSB.
-
And never use it on the big road. You'll be known as the queer on the radio lol.
Lonesome Thanks this. -

it's also VERY annoying , as it is 10 times louder than the voice transmission.
sometimes you can't hear the person talk only the freakin' BEEP.
it's a rookie toy.
never hear them on the police or military radios.Tonythetruckerdude Thanks this. -
They don't make you cool. So do not buy a radio with roger beep...
Pmracing Thanks this. -

a lot of big radios come stock with a RB but you don't have to turn it on.

anyone remember the chine when you keyed a Browning? I grew up listening to a guy w/ a Browning Golden Eagle & you always knew when he was starting to modulate.
