And if your place is anything like mine, the do-nothing guys won't hear diddly squat.

I once had a face-to-face with one of the two owners of my company wherein I tried to tell him why too many of his drivers quit - it's not the money or the equipment or the maintenance ...what is it?
He said, "The reasons are all over the map; I've given up trying to figure it out". Then he showed me a report he received the previous day on drivers who had quit and why. It contained such informative, one-line explanations as: "Driver was angry after fighting with dispatch" and "Driver was butt-hurt [sic] with dispatcher".
If we had been alone I would have (diplomatically) laid in to him for such nonsense. It's too bad, I like the guy but he is a geek; that is, super-intelligent about the mechanics of his business but simply out to lunch on the inter-personal aspects. Tfargonaz Thanks this. -
Was this how you see dispatch these days? -
I'm on the same boat.
You let me know what you do to fix the situation. Remember, Quitting is not the solution. -
With Qualcomm , camera's and tracking the company knows where you are and or how long. Pay hourly off those items.

Some already pay off of the omni tracs. But in my eyes there aren't enough companies that engage in this practice.

Well, quitting can be a solution. But a lot of us go off half-####ed when triggered.
I did all the obvious stuff: conversation strategy; documentation; chain of command; etc. My situation has definitely improved but the underlying culture of adversarial attitudes between driver and dispatch (and across departments) persists. It takes some special talent in the upper management to get everyone believing they are on the same team. I've noticed that it is not only driver vs dispatch but logs vs dispatch and safety vs everyone, etc.
I believe there are companies that handle this stuff better than others and I expect to be working at one sooner than later; in the mean time, a stoic attitude keeps the but* hurt at bay. -
Save money live better. Buy great value products

Will there ever be an admission of guilt by individuals within management that their policies caused higher turn over. Or that there management and spending practices caused a company to go down?
kwk100e Thanks this.
