WOW.That is great advice as I have preached against owing any company anything JUST to drive a truck for the same company.I have several cousins and friends that just could not take my advice. They, for the most part, regretted not listening to me regarding driving/getting started driving in today's world of transportation.KUDOS for getting into it the right way as i can not envision me doing the truck driving school thing just to drive.Thank goodness i did not have to way back then.
I equate driving for the company that trained you as being an indentured servant but then I only base that on all that i have heard and witnessed as i am not experienced in that arena.
I wish you two the very best as yours is a refreshing read considering my cynicism and all I know regarding trucking, having entered upon finishing at UGA in the mid 80's.I wonder how my path was chosen (even though transportation did pay for my college)although having taken the path I did,i am elated that I got into trucking during the last of the good ol'days of trucking and witnessing all the changes thrust upon the transportation industry in the past 20+years.
To declare that you two are in for an adventure would be an understatement especially as new laws and regs are implemented during the next 5-10 years. A shared adventure that will be worthwhile however. You have the right attitude going in.
Here's to your continued success. Please keep advising the wannabe's in the proper manner and I'll be following the blog-
