i got to agree, if I'm being nice and am in the right lane, I get a truck that almost a passes me. They get their cab ahead of me and slow to my speed, blocking me in.

I hate when one's lollygagging in the middle and I come up quick on the right cuz a slow 4 wheelr is blocking the left but the right is open then at the last second the lollygagger in the middle screws me and jumps in the rights lane and I have to curtail my momentum and waste fuel and we both know full well he did it on purpose just to F a fellow trucker.

My student nearly #### himself today. About 0600 we left the Petro heading west on I-20 in Shreveport, LA. Its raining, I tell him drive it but drive a safe speed. So we are puggin along at 55, in the right lane incidentally, A truck about 200 yards in front of us blowing smoke like no ones business. We got the obligatory 4 wheeler on our left blockin us in. That's when we both saw it. My student starts chanting oh #### oh #### and I tell him to start slowing as best he can but don't jam it and maintain your lane. What THAT was, was a east bound pick up truck hydroplaning. he popped across the median and right in front of us in oncoming traffic. WE go slow enough to maintain control and still miss him by all of about a foot as she shot by and over into the grass. Now if we had been balls to the wall and #### the consequences like some want to be in this thread, that joker in the pick up would be worm food right now, and we might be in rough shape ourselves. As it was the guys probably just going to have to replace his suspension and his underwear. So the moral of this story is, you just go right ahead and do what you gotta do. Im going to play it safe out there and if that's not good enough for you, or anyone else or that matter, you can stuff it.

I guess I am just different... My truck will do all of 74mph I normally drive at 67 if speed limit is over 60 If it is at 55 I will drive at 57. I will stay in the middle lane of a 3 lane, if going through heavy merge traffic. I don't have a problem with people getting upset with drivers that do this at speeds below the posted speed limit, but at the same time, if the merge traffic is bad enough, I don't blame them for not wanting to switch lanes back and forth. If I come up on a truck doing below the posted speed limit, I will pass in the left lane or, just drop down to their speed. Not going to be in this mess forever. It is all about safety, isn't it? Safety for me and everyone else on the road. I can not control how fast anyone else drives but I can control my truck and I will. If me being in the middle lane going two miles over the speed limit is going to cause an accident, than houston, we have a problem.

The thing about safety for everyone else, the reason is such a big deal in the north east, what's safer, one trick doing 55 in 65 going to the right lane, or 50 cars doing 80 going to the right. Just making my point. But I agree with you, in have merging traffic, it's safest to have us in the middle

The safety of those 50 lawbreaking vehicles aren't my responsibility. The safe operation of the 40 ton truck I'm driving is.

    Your point is invalid.
