mmm..yes and no on that one..a DOT bear can because its a dot requirement that a driver be secured in his seat to maintain control of the vehicle..and can argue that the seat belt is the device that accomplishes that.

now a 4 wheeler you would be completely correct...a regular bear or local..could not pull a truck driver over for just no seat belt..

Back in the day, wasn't channel 9 to be monitored by LEOs so you could communicate with them?...Did that change?...

I'll concede that point, but remember the post I replied to said they were doing this to 4 wheelers as well.

As far as your other post I am well aware of the BS that some DOT cops will pull. I got an OOS about a month and a half ago for a fuse. I had lost brake lights on the trailer, replaced the fuse and was still OOS until a mechanic came to write that everything was in working order.

Some states do still monitor channel 9 at various locations, however it isn't as widely used as before. Alot of the border patrol agents down in Texas do have channel 9 up for monitoring. Coming across 10 2 weeks ago I had 2 people dart across the road in front of me heading north with backpacks. I keyed 19 then 9 in case anyone was listening. I got aa reply back on 9 and then had a jeep fly out of the brush about a quarter mile ahead.

    also known as REACT??

    or some other alphabet soup.

yes, in any event, for help, accidents, etc, etc.

PS, there was "up until 2005" a group in CT that monitored ch 9, mostly private citizens. I know, me and my buddies were on ch 9 (it was SO QUIET) and we were asked to get off, (politely of course)

Channel 9 is the known emergency channel but DOT knows almost all truck drivers are on 19 while moving..don't think they don't listen to 19..they've also been known to braodcast a warning about something up ahead on 19

They have the capability..don't think for a minute they don't listen..they get bored too LOL..like I said bears are sneaky

I dunno about any law. But there was a recent case in Alabama of an officer writing a ticket to a 4 wheeler that flashed his headlights to warn a truck of a speed trap.

The charge was impeding an officer, or something like that.

Read that one in the paper. Don't know how it came out. Just know the guy was PO'd.
