Yes but take into account food for the week and any other things you might need. After taxes and if you are available for dispatch you would be looking at about 500 dollars or so . So if I were you keep about 150 to 200. You migh need more or less. Hopefully your trainer has a fridge and or microwave. Saves a lot of $$$$$
Hey MB I appreciate all of the info you have shared. I am wanting to go to driving school here in the next few weeks. I was wondering how you like it so far, and can you transfer your permit from any state or does it have to be from Missouri. I actually grew up in Joplin and was raised there. I am just wondering what i will need to bring, and what to expect.
previous employers addresses , numbers and dates. birth certificate, liscense, (yes you can get a permit in your state and use that to drive as a psd) bring permit if you get it * if you are on any med make sure you bring documents, if you are off med or just came off has to be after 30 days and clearance letter saying you dont use it anymore. if you have a sleep apnea machine with card reader i believe bring it in ( i never done it sorry) pack light but smart.
prime its self is a great place to be. just certain people in it make it rough to handle at times. listen closely in class, simulator lab ( please dont call it a video game) mr. wally gets annoyed about that, and listen to your trainer and instructor. ( might have two different people doing those). if ever any questions ask us on this forum ironphony, u2, ord, are all great people to ask and have alot more valuable info than i do just in case .
What I did and still do, is load 200.00 on my card weekly and the rest goes home. What I don't spend off my card then is money I take home with me to spend on the wife. It works well.
I do the same but put $100 on the card, but only take $80 and let the rest ride. Pocket change for the week.
Prime has FB, Tanker, and Reefer divisions. Sometimes that reefer is used as a dry van. Just gives Prime more options. It's all on you and what you want to do. If you go reefer, people always gotta eat. FB can be at the whims of the construction/farming/etc industries. FB has to secure the load whether it's 70 and nice, -10 and icy, or 110 and blistering sun. Reefer gets to wait on loads and unloads, sometimes for VERY long times. I don't know diddly about tanker yanker.
im currently looking at tanker. talked to a driver and what he does is more of a dedicated run from Hershey, PA to Nestle plants.
