we dont get to 'pick' what loads we get, which is why i mentioned in the other post about being a may employee. we get what we get, the DM has nothing to do with our preplans

FCFS stands for first come first serve.I don't know if being late would be the answer to getting out of this rut. That would just pizz your DM off and maybe even get you a sevice failure on your DAC.Keep bugging your DM to get you longer loads.

    Sure you can...

As I recall sitting in the dispatch office watching the dispatcher click on a truck and see the location within 15 minutes of where it really is complete with satellite image.

maybe 15 minutes before YOU placed your pre-emptive empty call you werent at your cosg getting unloaded, but for me here at may, Im usually at the cosg for 2 or so hours, so that 15 minutes they sat around locating me, they would still see me at the cosg :) which is where I would have done my empty call at regardless.... and it would be hard to do an empty call before an arrived at cosg call, so where else would I be?

oh really, who does load planners? The last company I drove for was very small, one dispatcher and another lady who pretty much did it all, payroll logs dispatching you name it.I mainly went to her for the load info. They both were always one step ahead of the game. The 3 yrs with them never did I have to sit and wait for a load unless it got cancelled at the last minute, even then my wait time was half hr or less.Only reason why because they had to wait for confirmation.

    ask my dispatcher

I was just making a suggestion. Also, most companies generally operate the same.
Driver calls in empty, and gets the next dispatch, unless already preplanned. The sooner that a driver can call empty, the faster he\she (generally) can bet going on the next trip.
So I fail to understand how my not being a May driver has anything to do with it.

when I ask my dm about a preplan, she says I dont know what THEY have for you. our DM's are just liaisons (i know I misspelled that) between us and ops or the company or whatever. we get our plans from planners, when I cant make a dispatch, my DM replies to me and says ok I let the planners know you cant do that trip. also for the most part, I am usually preplanned before I hit my cosg... USUALLY, but not all the time. that is why I said for those at may, people often think because its done one way at a company thats how its done everywhere. Im not saying you dont know what you're talking about, Im new here ^.^ but I know that my dm has no control over where im going or what load Im getting
