with that many miles on both trucks you are getting in to the range of some major issues in the drive train department before too many miles. one thing for sure get a oil sample on either truck. however both truck could run 400,000 more miles with out a major problem, that is just a gamble you take buying a used truck with a lot of miles. lots of luck on you choice.

 

What apu does it have, and how many hours are on it?

 

read the fine print on any warranty and see if it is worth the cost and covers enough stuff
also get service records for both trucks, an APU is nice to have but doesnt mean the truck is worth getting over the other.

Like someone said you always gamble but if the trucks have been regularly serviced and well maintained you might get another 500k miles with no issues except tires, I know one driver who has over 2mil miles on a truck with the original engine, he takes very good care of it and never misses a service.

Just get more info before jumping in, are there other options or are these just the final 2 your deciding on?

 

YOU can get the oil sample yerself outa these trucks. Take it for a drive n get it warmed up to normal temp. Bring a piece of 1/4 airline with ya so ya can suck the oil out of the dipstick tube to get a sample. Run an ECM report on both to see how many hours are on each n you will also see if the mileage is right. ECM reports will also tell you the lifetime average fuel economy of each truck. Between all these things n a rig dig report it should give you a pretty informed decision and some piece of mind.

I went to a dealer once n checked out a truck. When I asked the salesman/manager if I could take an oil sample his tune changed n he said I had to put a deposit on the truck first...LOL...I walked instantly...
