I am currently talking to a recruiter about attending roehl's school. As well as I would like to work for them OTR. I have been reading some really negative posts. People saying that they are not getting many miles, and bringing home $300 a week. I am a single guy, no attachments, so I don't care how long I am out. I am considering driving for 2 reasons 1. I want to see the country. Yes, I want to drive from Maine to California etc.. As I am not very likely to win the 200 million POWERBALL this week. 2: I want to make $$$ while doing that. Is it likely to bring home, after I have completed their training phases, $600/week or better after tax.
Miles, and pay with Roehl

Its easily doable to do 600 a week after taxes but honestly its all in how you run/operate and communicate with your dispatcher. But it also depends on who your dispatcher is and how well your truck stays together. Loads to get you home to palm beach might be a little difficult but i havent done many runs to florida maybe some others have a little bit more knowledge about florida freight.
Just got to remember theres always bad days/weeks in trucking and it will start off pretty slow $$ wise before you really get the hang of it in the first few months. Its not a bad company just find other drives to talk/vent to and dont take it out on your dispatcher because all they really are is a messenger.
If you have any specific questions ask. I still averaged 3100 miles but I knew what I was doing, 2400-2800 is more the average.Last edited: May 31, 2011

I don't know anyone getting paid only $300 a week take home. I'm averaging about $600-700 a week after taxes.

ive taken home 800 a week for 3 weeks out then the week im home i get between 325-425. But I got the miles and never broke down.

Most people with this company seem to have a positive experience. There are guys here that have been working with Rhoel for 10 plus years. I think you and I are making a good choice. Rhoel is much better than CRE, Werner, Swift, etc.

$600 a week average should be about right after insurance and taxes... But that is an average, some weeks will be better and some will be worse, esp go home week, the more ofter you want to go home the less you will make. Also be flexable, that helps get you miles too. Good luck.

ok i work for Roehl, dont forget that $600 a week is not for 40hrs...try 70... also i live orlando anything south of there good luck getting home...nobody wants to pull freight out of south florida....
But if you wanna stay out 28 days and your a single guy (plan on staying single if your out that long) you could make upwards of $750 if like others have said you let your FM know YOu WANNA RUN if not you'll be doing bs lil 600 mile trips up the east coast forever. -
Thanks for your comments. I am leaving South Fla. by the end of June. I will be living in Tennessee by July. None of the larger companies hire from this far south.
I wondered why the guy that was complaining about so little miles and pay didn't just get a regular job.
Yes I know it is a lot of work time vs hometime.
Thanks again everyone.
