Thats the way I see it too. Its all about the FM and your willingness to run. There are guys out there barely managing 2000 miles per week strictly because of the FM they have. I just got a guy switched over to my FM (ok'ed by Stan of course) starting Wednesday, because he was one of those guys. I'm not mentioning any names, but there are FM's that have had several drivers switch to another FM because they weren't staying busy. After the switch they have had no problems.

The miles are there, but you need to have someone working with you that knows how to get them, and you need to take care of business on your end.

So, how does a company driver effect such a change. (No, JCW isn't having any problems, but there are others that are.)

I have a buddy that is currently training with Prime. He advised that his trainer sometimes does not stop to shower for over 1 1/2 weeks. Is this normal

    NO!!!!

Your buddy needs to be communicating with his fleet manager about this. Time for a different trainer!

He actually spoke to his fleet Manager and was advised to
" wortk it out with his Trainer" He was upset because at orentaiton they advised him that if he Requested another trainer it wld not be a problem. Anyway he is okay with his trainer now. He has gotten use to taking a shower once a week or every 12 days. His Fleet Manager did call is trainer and discess my friends concerns. His concerns was not about the hygene issue it was about his trainer not teaching him how to use the log and the Qualcom, along with not allowing his to back into loading docks.

He has done 23,000.00 Miles over the road with his trainer and has backed in the trailor into the loading dock just three times.

He asked his trainer why doesnt he let him learn more things he advised my buddy that he needs to concentrate on shifting better and following the signs more carefully. He missed his exist a couple of times. Anyway thanks for the feedback.

He is pretty sure once he goes solo he will run the North east Region. He belives that he gross about $800.00 to $1100.00 a week running about

2100 to 2700 miles a week in the refer division as a company driver

I signed up to go to prime on 1/15/2012. I hope I get a trainer that stops to shower every other day. I was going to go with Maverick which I here is a great company but they have Auto-shfiter Trucks as a newbie I thinK i need to start out driving a manuel Transmission trucks. Thanks for the feedback

Yeah, I agree. Piss poor personal hygiene, and a lack of allowing a trainee to get hands-on experience equals a really bad trainer. The guy needs to get the heave-ho from being a trainer in my opinion.

When I was tnt I did all the backing on my shift. If I made it to a customer, they were my responsibility. If my trainer made, they were his.
