I just looked up the pay scale at Swift it is a sliding. Pay scale depending on the length of haul. You can look it up if you want. Here is how they pay the first year.

    Start .25 start, 3months .26, 4 months .29, 6months .32, 9months .33, 1year .34. I could not find any thing about perdiem. Hope this helps

First 2 weeks were really slow and now hubby is running like a spidermonkey hocked up on mountain dew. Everyone one was right. Everyone was right. Do a good job and the $ will follow

I've been solo since 2/8/12 and I am running 2500 to 3000 a week. I took the time to sit down with my DM and become more than a truck number. I've also taken the time to get acquainted with the other people at my terminal, Laredo. I made it clear I would run everything if I had the hours with the stipulation I would not be tolerant of being taken advantage of.

The other key factor is that I keep the door closed and the wheels turning. I can do 600 + miles a day if I'm not mountain climbing and 500 if I am. I've driven as far east as Virginia Beach, north to Saratoga, NY and the west coast from LA to Portland as well as a bunch of places in between. Since I went out on my mentor's truck, I've driven in 40 states. I'm now in Usk, WA and will be picking up a paper load in Spokane headed for Houston in the morning. I will have over 3200 miles this week.

Best of all, I saw a moose today. How cool is that? What an awesome job I have!

Sounds like ur doing good out there like me I can't figure out why some of the drivers ant make $$$ or miles their not doing something right Swift has to freight and if ur DM takes care of you then there should be no problem the only time My check is when I go home or when a shppr or reciever wasted my day which happens at times that not Swifts fault I have even sat at a shppr 8 hrs then ld got voided and still paid 6 hrs of detention without taking ld and when I was leaving they wanted to load me I told them it was there problem I'm off the LD, I just got my$.32 a mile and am Platinuim with Mac 30 which really helps with the miles, good luck out.

I have heard that Swift drivers are happy with the low pay.

Most of them feel they are not worth more.

Maybe hubby is just plagued by bad luck. His truck has been in the shop twice. The first time they took 2 days to make the repairs. The second time it took 3 days. NOW, he's at a truck stop while roadside comes to him to repair the leaky rivets on the trailer he's hauling because after driving through the rain to get to his pickup, there was water in the trailer and the shipper refused to load him in the condition he was in (for which I don't blame them). So, he's spent 8 hours fooling around with this. When he asked his DM how he was going to get paid, the answer was, "You don't get paid for breakdowns if it's repaired in less than 24 hours. Truck Driving 101" (don't you love that attitude?)

Plus he's had to take layover pay a few times as well, and that's $50/day when, if he were driving, he could be making 3 times that.

Anyway, I feel like I'm whining too much. Hubby doesn't whine as much as me, but he doesn't like it much either. He's gonna ride it out for a few more weeks, but if things don't improve he's going to ask for a different DM or go to the FM and ask to be transferred to a different terminal.
