Hang in there Wilma. It will get better. Hubby in Phoenix to drop this truck off. Then taking a daycab to Laredo then taking a bus back to Memphis. Aftet that taking another truck down to Phoenix for them. After that he gets his truck. He requested a volvo I think. Then home to pack his truck and go again. Miles must have picked up because the posts are slowing down. Think I will hit the treadmill tonight. Don't want the LL looking better than me lol! Have fun all and be safe!

    Wilma Thanks this.

Hi Wilma! He has a lot more "truck drivers 101" moments to come, all part of that Difficult first year,he might as well forget everything he and you thought you know about "fair compensation" because really turning miles is about the only way you do get paid!( i know accesorial pay too, breakdown layover, detention) but really its miles, and to get those miles forget about just working during the day, have to do nights, wekends, superbowl sunday, and yes holidays too. This industry is unlike any other field,as far as pay, hours and conditions go.....just sayin':biggrin_25525:

ps....whole lot of "free work too" but i just call it doing work to get work, lol

    Wilma and inkeper Thank this.

from what i can remember the pay scale looks the same but the first month will be slow as you learn the ropes of the company.

you can make good money and be home every 3 weeks but when its time to run get with it

i would say your first month 2200 miles/week then it will go up from their and then every January and febuary freight slows down with Swift so just plan on it

,Sweeping trls, repairing trls and tractor, fighting tandems, scaling, the first 2 hrs at a stop are free, throwing chains...etc,etc but you have to do it to get the miles, thus work for more(paying work)

some things have changed i guess, i always got paid to sweep out trailers, and if the scale was out of route my dm would route me to it, the break down pay i always thought was a joke,

    but i see your point

Drive more miles than your paid for but all the company's pay the same they go by Rand McNally moving miles I've drove 100miles more than paid for but usually there pretty close and sometimes get paid for miles u don't drive, oh and sweeping trailers unhooking hooking put up with ######## at ur pick ups or drops ect just part of the job really I feel we they should have to pay us every hour of our 14 but that will never happen dam gov needs to make them pay us for hours were on duty not driving since they wanna stick there nose in our bussiness about only working 14 hrs and 34 hr breaks
