I am thinking about applying at Conway. Before I sent in my paperwork in, I heard that Conway Truckload has cut back on Driver Mileage. Is this true?

I'm not a Conway driver but happened to notice your post. No trucking company will ever "cut back on driver mileage". They may go through a cycle that relates to an industry they rely heavily on (perhaps automotive) and that might slow down for a time. but any trucking company is ALWAYS going to strive to run their entire useable fleet as efficiently (close to 100% capacity) as they can, ALL the time. If they "cut back on mileage", they are pissing off a lot of investors and people who rely on a strong, competitive company. If they're average driver miles is getting smaller, it's not intentional, rather it's a sign of a worsening economy that is affecting ALL truckload carriers, or they need to bring on some new sales force blood, or both. Where they may currently rank mileage-wise when compared to other similar carriers is another story altogether and I can't speak to that.

Furthermore, unless a driver ACTUALLY is brought into monthly corporate sales meetings to discuss sales figures, they don't know what is going on company wide for certain. They know how they are doing as one driver, and they glean a little from talking to other drivers there, but it's one driver's perception, nothing more, nothing less. If they post driver (truck) performance numbers for drivers to see, and one can see a downward trend FOR ALL TRUCKS in a fleet, that only means sales are down and somebody is getting an ###-chewing.

As for Con-Way specifically, just like he said.

Another dynamic he didn't mention, miles do run in cycles. Good weeks, bad weeks. Months and years tend to average out. So, if you get a driver, with a slow week, time on his or her hands, and a wifi signal close by, the first thing they do is hit this forum. By the time the rumor mill gets done churning a bad week around it becomes a company policy to cut driver miles, with stock holders selling off, stock prices down, earnings down, and UPS is getting ready to buy the company in a hostile takeover and it becomes a union shop, and uniform for all drivers will be Scottish kilts.

Watch in a couple of days and see if you don't see that rumor floating around just because it was mentioned as a joke here.

    Have fun, be safe!

You are correct. You will NOT get hardly any miles with Conway Truckload. Under 2000 a week and many times, alot less than even that. And that goes for most of the other drivers there, regardless of time spent with the company. No doubt, there will be posts coming to Conways rescue, telling you that I am wrong. I am not wrong. You would be doing yourself a big favor by going to any truck stop and speaking with the drivers. This company is having problems retaining drivers, mainly due to the fact that they cannot make a living here. There are "paid bloggers" in here that are hired by the trucking companies and they are posting false information here to keep people ignorant regarding politics and company practices. Be careful. Do yourself a favor and dont take anybodys word in here. Again, go to a truck stop and speak with the drivers yourself.

Nice try! Union shops are the BEST way to go for all of us. You are wrong sir. How much are you being paid for all your false information? And by the way, low miles do not run in cycles at Conway; they are low on a consistant basis.

    Paid bloggers?

You have proof to this accusation?

    Or just an opinion.
